  • Beyond Accountability: The Magic of Soul-Deep Support
    2024/05/24

In this special episode of the Sacred Wild podcast, I'm joined by my dear friend, soul sister, and accountability buddy Martha Lucius. We dive deep into our 10-year journey of supporting each other through life's ups and downs, both personally and professionally. Martha and I met through a business program in 2014, but our connection quickly transcended the typical "accountability buddy" relationship. We explore the importance of having soul friends who see you, believe in you, and provide wise counsel, especially when embarking on creative endeavors or purpose-driven work.

    Key Takeaways:

    * Having soul friends is crucial when pursuing purpose-driven work, as they provide support, encouragement, and honest feedback

    * A true soul friend connection goes beyond surface-level accountability – it's about being seen, heard, and supported on a deep level

    * Vulnerability and trust are key ingredients in a soul friend relationship

    * Soul friends can wear many hats – cheerleader, strategist, mentor, confidant – and help you navigate both the big picture and minute details of life and business

    * When seeking a soul friend or accountability buddy, look for someone who sees you the way you honestly need to be seen, not just the way you want to be seen

    Soundbites:

    * "You need your people – the people who can believe in you when you don't believe in yourself."

    * "We want to be very real to the people that are around us. And if there's anything that came through, that's what attracted us – that soul track."

    * "This is actively living in the world the best version of what you want to be and being vulnerable enough to be that."

  • The Wise Woman's Way: Tap into the Ancient Wisdom of Plants and Earth
    2024/05/15

Hi everyone, welcome to another episode of the Sacred Wild Podcast! I'm thrilled to bring you today's guest, the wonderful Sanne Giesen. Sanne is a nature-based somatic coach, herbalist, and author who embodies the archetype of the modern wise woman. Our conversation was a beautiful exploration of reconnecting to ourselves and nature, tapping into the healing power of plants, and reclaiming ancient earth-based wisdom.

Sanne's journey into this work began with her own health struggles, which led her back to the restorative embrace of the natural world. She shared fascinating insights on how nature acts as a master regulator for our nervous systems, helping us find safety and wholeness. We explored practical ways to connect with nature, even in urban environments, the magic of herbal medicine as a path for healing and growth, and how aligning with natural rhythms can be a profound spiritual practice. Sanne's perspective is rooted in science, psychology, and embodied wisdom - a potent combination that I found deeply enriching.

Here are some of the key takeaways from our conversation:

    * Nature is the master regulator of our nervous systems, helping us feel safe, whole, and able to access a full range of human emotions and experiences

    * Reestablishing a loving relationship with nature is crucial not only for our own wellbeing, but for our ability to care for the earth and each other

    * Even in cities, we can attune to the nature that surrounds us - the plants pushing through cracks in the sidewalk, the migrating birds overhead, the phases of the moon

    * Herbal medicine is a powerful tool for healing and transformation, especially when we connect directly with the plants as our teachers and allies

    * Aligning with natural rhythms like the seasons and cycles of light/dark can be a profound spiritual practice that grounds us in something bigger than ourselves

    Some of my favorite soundbites:

"I deeply feel that coming back to ourselves and coming back to nature are intertwined." (1:29)

"Nature helps us to feel calmer, feel less pain, feel more focused - it boosts our immune system." (6:00)

"We care for what we love. That's my core mission - to reestablish that sense of connection and love for nature." (22:31)

"We as humans are deeply spiritual beings. When we go outside and take time to slow down and connect with nature, spiritual experiences happen - every single time." (42:06)

  • No Silver Bullet: Embracing the Complexity of Change
    2024/05/03

Hey Wild Ones! In this deeply insightful episode, I had the pleasure of diving into the complex world of change, leadership, and authenticity with my dear friend and provocateur, Steve Hearsum. Fresh off the launch of his thought-provoking book, "No Silver Bullet", Steve shared his wisdom on the absurdity of searching for simple solutions to complex problems. Together, we explored the role of shame, shadow, and vulnerability in our lives as change-makers and the importance of embracing discomfort in service of genuine growth and transformation.

Throughout our conversation, Steve's authenticity shone through as he candidly shared his own struggles and revelations on his path to self-discovery. We discussed the power of holding space for contradictions, the courage to admit when we don't have all the answers, and the necessity of finding safe spaces for sense-making and reflexivity. Steve's insights serve as a potent reminder that true change begins with our willingness to confront our own shadows and sit with the discomfort that often precedes profound growth.

    Key Takeaways:

    * Embracing the absurdity and complexity of life is essential for navigating change and leadership with authenticity and resilience.

    * True growth and transformation often require us to sit with discomfort and confront our own shadows and vulnerabilities.

    * Holding space for contradictions and admitting when we don't have all the answers are signs of genuine authenticity and courage.

    * Finding safe spaces for sense-making, critical reflection, and reflexivity is crucial for change-makers to process their experiences and continue growing.

    * Experimentation and a willingness to "throw some of the swamp back in" are key to deepening our insights and moving forward in our change-making efforts.

    Soundbite:

"Unless you have some kind of appreciation or capacity to recognize and see in yourself and in others the total and utter absurdity of much of what it is we worry about, then you're probably going to be stuck." - Steve Hearsum

  • Nature's Blueprint: Is Your True Self in Your Biology?
    2024/04/18

Hey there, wild ones! Krish here, and welcome back to another episode of The Sacred Wild Podcast. In our last episode, we dove into the fascinating world of Human Design and how it can help us understand our unique energy patterns and authentic selves. Today, we're exploring another powerful tool for self-discovery and optimal well-being: PH360.

In this episode, I share my personal journey with PH360, a cutting-edge health platform that uses epigenetics, anthropometry, and lifestyle data to create personalized health profiles. As someone who has struggled with food addiction and body image issues, I found PH360's insights into my "Diplomat" body type to be truly transformative. From learning about my natural energy conservation tendencies to discovering the best exercise timing for my chronobiology, PH360 has helped me embrace my unique physiology and make more informed choices for my health.

The Sacred Wild is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.

    Key Takeaways:

    * PH360 offers a comprehensive, personalized approach to health by analyzing your epigenetics, anthropometry, and lifestyle data

    * There are six main health types in PH360, each with their own unique characteristics, needs, and optimal diet and lifestyle choices

    * As a "Diplomat" type, I learned that I thrive in nature, have a longer digestive system, and do best with intermittent fasting and a plant-rich diet

    * Chronobiology plays a significant role in optimizing exercise performance and overall well-being

    * Our physiology and neurotransmitters can influence our work dynamics and relationships, as seen in my experience working with a "Crusader" type colleague

    * There is no one-size-fits-all approach to health; PH360 helps you tailor your habits and choices to your unique biology

    Soundbites:

    * "PH360 is a pretty cutting-edge health platform, founded by a guy called Matt Riemann in 2012. And it uses things like epigenetics, anthropometry, and also other lifestyle data to really help individuals kind of understand their unique health needs and really make informed decisions around diet, fitness, lifestyle."

    * "PH360 is still a map back to self. It's still a map back to our true self and who we truly are and how we're changing over time."

    * "There is no one-size-fits-all diet. So when you kind of hear that keto is the greatest thing or that low-carb is the greatest thing, or low-fat or whatever that is, there are different diets that will work differently for different health types."

    Resources:

  • Unlock Your True Self with Human Design
    2024/04/04

    Hey there wild ones!

In this episode, I wanted to share with you something that has been absolutely transformational for me in recent years - Human Design. This system, which draws upon astrology, the I-Ching, Kabbalah and the chakras, provides a map of your unique energy blueprint. I explain the basics of Human Design, including the five types, strategies and authorities, and how understanding your design can help you realign with your authentic self.

I share my own journey with Human Design, including how discovering my type (Manifesting Generator), profile (3/5), strategy (wait to respond) and authority (sacral) has reshaped my approach to life, work and relationships. While the Human Design rabbit hole can feel complex at first, I emphasize that the key is to experiment with the knowledge and see what resonates. By shedding our conditioning and expectations, we can return to our true nature and live more joyful, purposeful lives.

My aim with this episode is to give you a taste of the power of Human Design, and inspire you to begin your own experiments. I'd love to hear how it lands for you and what insights you uncover. Human Design is simply a tool to help you reclaim that inner knowing.

The Sacred Wild is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.

    Key Takeaways:

    * Human Design offers a map of your unique energy blueprint, combining astrology, the I-Ching, Kabbalah and the chakras

    * The five Human Design types - Manifestor, Generator, Manifesting Generator, Projector and Reflector - each have a specific aura, strategy and authority

    * The first work of Human Design is deconditioning - shedding the expectations and beliefs that keep us separate from our authentic nature

    * Understanding your type, strategy and authority can radically shift how you approach decision making, work and relationships

    * The key with Human Design is to experiment with the knowledge and see what resonates - it's about reclaiming your inner authority, not following a prescriptive path

In this episode, I explore the meaning behind the phrase 'Sacred Wild' and its significance in my life and work. I share my background as a spiritual seeker and activist, and how these experiences led me to launch the Sacred Wild Podcast. I discuss the concept of 'sacred' as the inherent divinity within all beings and the interconnectedness of life. I highlight the importance of deconditioning and embracing our unique gifts to create a ripple effect of positive change in the world.

    Summary

In this episode, I discuss the nature of resistance and how it can be overcome by drawing lessons from nature. I share my personal struggles with resistance and the doubts and fears that arise when I'm starting a new creative endeavor. I emphasize that resistance is a natural part of the creative process and can be seen as a sign of moving in the right direction. I then present seven lessons from nature that have helped me overcome resistance, including ncluding awareness, relentlessness, taking small steps, flexibility, seeking support, embracing resistance, and finding the path of least resistance. I conclude by encouraging you the listener to reflect on the lessons they have learned from nature in overcoming their own resistance.

    Takeaways

    * Resistance is a natural part of the creative process and often indicates that we are moving in the right direction.

    * Awareness of the nature of resistance helps us understand what we need to do and when to take action.

    * Being relentless and persistent, like the crashing waves of the sea, is key to overcoming resistance.

    * Taking small steps and gradually building strength, like baby shoots and animals, helps us gain confidence and momentum.

    * Staying flexible and making the most of what we have, like sunflowers tracking the sun, allows us to adapt and thrive.

    * Seeking support from others, like the interconnectedness of redwood trees, can provide encouragement and help us overcome resistance.

    * Embracing resistance as a means of growth, like butterflies breaking out of their chrysalis, strengthens us and helps us become more self-assured.

    * Finding the path of least resistance towards our goals allows us to move forward with less fear, doubt, and insecurity.

    * Recognizing when it's necessary to take a different route if the resistance persists can lead us to alternative paths towards our goals.
