  • Sam Payne - Turning Heartbreak Into a Movement
    2025/08/01

On this episode of the Room Eleven Podcast, I sit down with Samantha Payne, Co-Founder and CEO of the Pink Elephants Support Network. A national support network for mothers impacted by miscarriage and early pregnancy loss.

We talk about Sam’s devastating experiences of multiple losses, how it inspired her mission for change, and how those experiences have shaped her as both a mother and a leader.

We learn about Pink Elephants’ groundbreaking new digital Circle of Support, a tailored program to support mothers even further. We discuss the progress that's been made in supporting families through early pregnancy loss, and the cultural shifts that still need to happen to bring this issue into the spotlight even further.

If you’ve experienced loss, or just want to understand how to support those who have, this conversation is a must-listen.

  • After They're Gone - A Q&A with Rob Saunders
    2025/07/18

In this solo episode, I (Rob Saunders, founder of social enterprise Room Eleven and the Room Eleven Podcast) answer questions about grief and loss.

Questions from the perspectives of healthcare professionals, to friends trying to support someone they care about and just people wanting to better understand what grief does to a person.

Although I speak mainly from the lens of baby loss, this conversation is for anyone navigating grief in any form. Whether it’s the loss of a loved child, a parent or sibling, even the loss of a version of your life that no longer exists, grief shows up in many ways.

This episode is part reflection, part advice, and part invitation. An invitation to better understand each other, to listen deeper, and to support the people in our lives who might be carrying more than we realise.

  • Matt McConnell - Love From Dad
    2025/07/04

How do you continue after your daughter dies?

In this episode, I sit down with Matt McConnell, a dad who tragically lost his daughter Wren at just eight days old. Matt opens up about the heartbreak of those days, the impossible decisions he and his wife faced, and the love that carried them through the darkest moments.

We talk grief, fatherhood, and how sharing our stories can break the silence around baby loss. Matt also shares the lessons he’s learned, the resources he’s put together for other dads through his Love From Dad website, and why speaking openly about this kind of grief is so vital.

This is a raw, deeply personal conversation, but also one full of hope, connection, and reminders that none of us are alone.

  • Chris Wood - Grief, Fatherhood and Finding Connection
    2025/06/20

Chris Wood and his wife Bethany have faced more heartbreak than most people can imagine, a long road of pregnancy loss that led to the birth of their son Liam, who lived for just 22 hours.

In the months that followed, Chris felt what many bereaved fathers feel: invisible. Isolated. Left out of the grief conversation entirely.

So, he did something about it.

Chris started through Red Nose what is now Australia’s only in-person support group for bereaved dads. He also brought together a group of grieving fathers through a weekly footy club. Not for therapy, not for performance, but for connection. For showing up. For remembering they’re not alone.

In this episode, we talk about Liam. About grief that lingers. About friendship, frustration, and what it means to build something that wasn’t there when you needed it most.

I hope you get as much from the conversation as I did. Enjoy.
