In Daniel 3:1-3, Nebuchadnezzar King of Babylon commanded that a golden image of himself be erected. He then held a dedication ceremony in honor of this image. Interestingly enough, this is the only account "in the Bible" of someone making a golden image of himself. Certainly, other power-mad despots demanded worship, but not everyone erects golden images of himself.In the not too distant future, the antichrist will also erect an image of himself as well.
