  • Four Low, Five Year Missions, and Foggy Glasses
    2026/08/18

Jon's still on a boat, so Bill Taylor takes the Captain's chair — and brings a Ford Bronco and a lifetime of Star Trek with him. Bill walks through the Bronco Off Rodeo, the complimentary off-road training Ford throws in with every Bronco, which he went into swearing he'd never take his own truck off pavement and came out of shopping for tires at lunch. Then the real story: a pilgrimage to Ticonderoga, New York, where a fan named James Cawley used the original studio blueprints to rebuild the Enterprise set inside a converted grocery store. Bill sat in the captain's chair. It's terrible. He hit the red alert button anyway.

Along the way — the neighbor who almost got Christa McAuliffe's seat on Challenger, meeting Gene Kranz at a Saturn conference, a Klingon at an Atlanta convention that ended Bill's convention career, and Nashville humidity that fogs your glasses at 70 degrees.

    Key topics

    • Buying a Bronco on New Year's Eve incentives, then 4,000+ trouble-free road miles

    • Ford's free Bronco Off Rodeo at the base of the Great Smokies

    • Bronco vs. Wrangler — materials, road manners, width, and what each is actually for

    • How the original Enterprise blueprints ended up with a fan in upstate New York

    • The bridge, the transporter sliders, the red alert, and the worst chair in Starfleet

    • Fan vs. fanatic, and why picking the franchise apart misses the point

    • The neighbor who nearly flew on Challenger — and Challenger as a crisis-comms case study

    • Gene Kranz, Huntsville, Space Camp, and the Lea Thompson-to-Star-Trek-director throughline

  • [PoddiClassic] Chicago Dogs, Angry Bike Riders, and Airplane Bathrooms
    2026/08/11

This one's a certified PoddiClassic — episode 32, dug up from the vault back when we still pretended we could stay on topic. It took almost the entire episode to get there, but we finally landed on ax throwing, by way of Nick's family trip to Chicago and Jon casually admitting he used to hustle pool for cash. Naturally, we spend the back half complimenting each other's ax-throwing form like it's an Olympic event. A real first-season artifact.

  • More AI, Website Design, and the Quantum Computing
    2026/08/04

We open by rediscovering that recording requires hitting the record button, a lesson that needs relearning every few episodes. From there we walk through the new site Nick built with Claude, including a same-day page for a record label client, and why prompting matters more than the AI itself. We talk through a sales myth we debunked by asking ChatGPT to prove it wrong, why Cadillac's billion-dollar all-electric bet had to be reversed, and a Carvana delivery that showed up smelling like cigarettes. We land on the same line we keep coming back to: AI gives you knowledge, not wisdom, and you still have to click stop yourself.

    Key Topics

    • Building the new PoddiMouths site and client sites with AI

    • Why prompting is the real skill, not the AI itself

    • Trust but verify: catching AI hallucinations

    • Debunking a sales myth with ChatGPT

    • Cadillac, EVs, and the cost of betting wrong

    • Carvana, dealership visits, and the emotional car-buying decision

    • Why customers, not government mandates, drive real change
