The defendant claims the plaintiff’s wife caused the damage by squeezing her cart between parked cars. He believes the plaintiff is pinning the blame on him to avoid paying for his own repairs. Then, the plaintiff says she hired the defendant to cater a birthday party that was canceled due to a hurricane. She claims the defendant has been uncooperative in rescheduling the event, so she is suing for a full refund. The defendant says she already spent most of the catering fee on food and supplies in advance. She offered to give the food to the plaintiff, but the plaintiff refused. Plus, the plaintiff says she owns a two-family home and hired the defendants, real estate agents, to find tenants. She claims she set the rent at $1,500, but the tenants placed by the defendants are not paying that amount. She also alleges the tenants bring strange guests and the home now smells like marijuana. She is suing for misrepresentation. The defendants say they’ve worked with over 150 landlords, and this is the first time one has taken legal action over a tenant issue.
