  • The Art of receiving
    2026/09/15

Why Receiving Can Feel Harder Than Giving

We spend so much of our lives learning how to give, achieve, help, fix, prove and take care of others.

But what happens when life asks us to simply… receive?

For many of us, receiving can feel surprisingly vulnerable. Love, support, success, visibility, abundance even peace can activate parts of us that learned long ago that being useful, strong or needed was safer than simply being valued.

In Episode 6 of The Path Home, we explore why giving can feel safer than receiving, how our past can shape what we believe we’re allowed to have, and why we sometimes struggle to hold the very things we’ve worked so hard to create.

Because healing isn’t only about releasing what hurt us.

Eventually, healing becomes about making room for what comes next.

    More love.
    More support.
    More joy.
    More visibility.
    More possibility.

    Without chasing it.
Without proving ourselves worthy of it.
And without abandoning ourselves to keep it.

Perhaps you don’t need to become more worthy of the life you want.

Perhaps you need to practise letting it reach you.

  • When Safety Feels More Dangerous Than Chaos

When Safety Feels More Dangerous Than Chaos

What if you’re not afraid of things going wrong…
What if part of you is afraid of things finally going right?

We often think trauma teaches us to fear danger. But sometimes it also teaches the nervous system to distrust safety.

When chaos, unpredictability, rejection or having to earn love becomes familiar, peace can feel strangely uncomfortable. We may overthink, control, pull away, procrastinate, choose unavailable people or unconsciously disrupt the very things we say we want.

In this episode of The Path Home, I explore the difference between what is safe and what is simply familiar, and why healing asks us to develop the capacity to receive more: more love, more visibility, more success, more peace… without needing to create chaos around it.

Because perhaps the next stage of healing isn’t learning how to survive more.

Perhaps it’s learning how to stay when life finally feels good.

  • When the Danger is gone, but your body doesn’t know it yet?
    2026/08/28

Have you ever known, logically, that you were safe yet your body reacted as though you were in danger?

Your mind may understand that the situation is different. The person is different. The threat has passed. And still, your heart races, your stomach tightens, you shut down, become hypervigilant, withdraw, people-please or feel an overwhelming need to regain control.

In this episode of The Path Home, we explore what happens when the present moment activates something the body learned long ago.

We look at the difference between what is happening now and what your nervous system believes is happening, and why understanding our patterns intellectually isn’t always enough to change them.

Because your feelings are real but the story attached to them may belong to another time.

I also share a simple practice for creating space between activation and action, so instead of automatically reacting from an old survival response, we can begin responding from who we are today.

Perhaps healing isn’t asking the body to forget what happened.

It’s helping it discover that what happened then isn’t necessarily happening now.

    Welcome home. 💛
