Susanna is a writer, editor, trainer, and consultant who’s spent a lifetime helping others find clarity in their words. She began her career as a journalist for the BBC World Service, reporting from Portugal during the revolution and later becoming Deputy Editor of World Service News. She’s trained journalists across the globe—from Georgia to Thailand—and developed the BBC’s web writing courses.

Now, she specialises in helping businesses and individuals communicate more clearly online. Whether it's writing for the web, simplifying complex reports, or shaping accessible websites, Susanna brings a rare combination of precision, warmth, and deep experience to the world of words.

In this episode, we talk about everything from centred text (don’t do it!) to how to create websites people actually want to read. We also explore the joys and pitfalls of plain English, transferable skills for educators, and the importance of asking for help.
