A Portland private eye with war-damaged hearing works a waterfront murder case that won't stay closed.

Ray Decker takes the case of a dockworker's daughter who won't accept the official ruling on her father's death. The investigation pulls him from a payphone on Burnside to a hospital bed to a boxing gym on the east side, chasing a name that costs him more than he knows to find.
