  • S1E2 Rethinking your career during maternity leave. My Motherhood Story (part 1)
    2026/05/13

In the debut episode of The Mother of All Careers podcast, host Stacey Subject introduces her mission to share the raw, diverse stories of how women navigate the transition into motherhood. She begins with her own "existential crisis," triggered by a controversial podcast on child attachment that made her question her own imminent return to the corporate world. Despite a successful 20-year career in advertising and being her family's primary breadwinner, Stacey describes the visceral dread of leaving her daughter to return to a corporate world she felt she had outgrown. She reflects on the "golden handcuffs" of her high-paying job versus the simple, profound desire to be the one making her daughter’s lunch and witnessing her daily milestones.

Through stories and discussions with other friends and mothers, Stacey sets the stage for a journey of self-reflection and difficult choices. This episode captures the tension between financial security and maternal instinct, ending as she begrudgingly prepares to return to work.
