In this episode of The Mother of All Careers podcast, host Stacey Subject welcomes her first guest motherhood story. Joined by her long time college friend Ellen Stevenson, a married mother of two boys, ages 13 and 11 from the Pittsburgh suburbs. In this episode Ellen shares her journey of entering the world unsure if motherhood was for her, but ready to sink her teeth into a challenging and fruitful career, only to find that motherhood came calling before you she might have been fully prepared. Becoming easily pregnant with her first and second child and in a healthy and supportive marriage, Ellen made the decision to step away from her career to best support her family and ultimately found the blessing in that sacrifice as her family evolved. This episode discusses the ways in which we cope and adapt to having our lives play out differently than we had anticipated. It dives into caregiving for a child with special needs, building a community around you and growing into your most confident version of motherhood and imperfect parenting.
