  • Scott Rogowsky ("Quiz Daddy") on His Journey with Phish & The Power Of Gratitude
    2025/06/30

I'm sure y'all remember Scott Rogowsky, the iconic “Quiz Daddy” from the HQ Trivia phenomenon back in 2017-2018. Turns out, he’s also a massive Phish fan, just like me. After Phish's 2025 spring tour on the West Coast, Scott penned an incredibly thoughtful and introspective essay on his Substack about his personal journey with the band. It really stuck out to me because it goes way beyond setlists and jams.

I was so moved by his writing that I knew I had to invite him on The Mostly Occasionally Show to yap about it. This conversation is a deep dive into personal growth, shedding cynicism, and what it truly means to “surrender to the flow.” Scott gets real about his experience with the Hoffman Process, a life-changing retreat that helped him re-evaluate negativity and find a new sense of gratitude, both in life and at shows.

We explore how our relationship with a band like Phish can mirror our own maturity as millennials entering mid-life, from the wide-eyed innocence of our first shows to the jaded snark of our 20s, and finally, to a place of pure appreciation for the moment. It was amazing to connect with Scott on how this shared experience shapes our worldview.

Huge thanks to Scott for being so open and gracious with his time and his story. You’ve gotta go read his original essay, titled "You Enjoy My Band" linked below!

  • G-Eazy Is 35, Lives in New York, And Reinventing Himself on 'Helium'—His First Album in Four Years (Interview)
    2025/05/23

G-Eazy's new album, "Helium," just dropped—his first in four years and easily his most personal yet.

Remember peak G-Eazy? A decade ago, he soundtracked your messiest breakups, late-night Uber rides, and Sunday Scaries brunches. Now at 35, after a whirlwind of fame, loss, and reinvention, the Bay Area rapper is diving deep and opening up. On today's Mostly Occasionally, G-Eazy joins us to talk about why he stepped back from LA stardom, moved to New York, got trippy and introspective on new tracks like "Kiss The Sky," and how "Helium" is his way of sharing a lifetime of birthday parties with his brother and the world.

We unpack the music, the memories, and the messy parts of growing up—for him and all of us.

Thanks for listening. Throw me a follow if you dig this interview and

  • Forrest Galante: The Wildlife Biologist Taking on Pablo Escobar's Hippos
    2025/04/10

This week on Mostly Occasionally, I catch up with wildlife biologist, TV host, and certified madman Forrest Galante.

You might know Forrest Galante from his many Discovery Channel and Animal Planet shows, starting with Naked and Afraid back in 2013, where people survive in the jungle with no clothes. Since then, he’s built a career chasing lost species, hosting Extinct or Alive, and turning the public eye toward wildlife conservation in a way that’s actually effective. He’s really damn good at it and has the scars and stories to prove it.

He just got back from Colombia, where he’s been working hands-on with the government to tackle one of the strangest ecological disasters on Earth: Pablo Escobar’s hippos. What started as a drug kingpin’s exotic pets has exploded into an invasive species crisis, with hundreds of massive, unpredictable animals wreaking havoc on the local ecosystem and neighboring communities.

    We get into:

    • The surreal reality of the “cocaine hippos” (yes, that’s a real thing)
    • Why it’s not as simple as just shooting them (though Forrest says… maybe it should be?)
    • The process of catching, chemically castrating, and relocating 4-ton animals
    • Why his production company is literally financing conservation work
    • And what the U.S. could learn from Colombia when it comes to wildlife management

Hope you enjoy the conversation as much as I did!

  • Dolph Lundgren: Movie Star and Vodka Entrepreneur
    2025/03/26

I caught up with action icon Dolph Lundgren to talk about his new vodka brand Hard Cut—how it started, why it’s stronger and smoother than most, and why it feels a little bit James Bond with a splash of Rat Pack. We also get into the legacy of Ivan Drago, his real-life battle with cancer, and what it’s like to parachute off the Eiffel Tower during a Bond shoot in the pre-VFX era. Dolph was thoughtful, funny, and smooth—just like the vodka.

Catch us sipping A Cut Above (literally the name of his cocktail) and reflecting on everything from Swedish schnapps to where the Drago family would be in 2025.

  • Sam Calagione & David Lemieux on the new, official Grateful Dead beer
    2025/02/26

Beer and the Grateful Dead—two of my favorite things, and today’s episode is a dream. I’m joined by Sam Calagione, founder of Dogfish Head Craft Brewing , and David Lemieux, longtime Grateful Dead Archivist & Historian, to talk about their epic new collab: Dogfish Head Grateful Dead Juicy Pale Ale.

With 2025 marking the Grateful Dead’s 60th anniversary, Dogfish Head is celebrating with a nationwide beer release—complete with a big Stealie on the package. But they didn’t stop there. Sam and David also teamed up with Sam’s Deadhead son, Sammy, to curate a vinyl collection of Grateful Dead tunes—the perfect soundtrack for drinking beer on a summer porch.

In this conversation, we dive deep into:
🍺 The origins of Dogfish Head’s Dead-inspired brews
🎵 How David curates archival Dead releases (like Dave’s Picks)
📀 The process behind the new vinyl collab & what’s on it
🤘 Unreleased Dead recordings & the “white whale” of the Dead archive
💀 Both Dave and Sam's orgin stories as longtime Deadheads

Sam is a craft beer legend—he built Dogfish Head into a powerhouse that was acquired by Boston Beer Company for $300 million in 2019. And David? He's been curating Dave’s Picks and overseeing Dead archival releases for years and the host of Today In Grateful Dead History on the SiriusXM Grateful Dead Channel. The guy is a walking Grateful Dead encyclopedia.

  • Adam Richman's Steak Night w/ Bryan Cranston And The Snack Food Capital Of America (Pennsylvania)
    2025/02/04

I’m so excited to welcome my pal, food-TV legend Adam Richman (of Man vs. Food fame), to The Mostly Occasionally Show. We had a fun, wide-ranging chat about food, pop culture, and Pennsylvania’s massive impact on American snack food. As someone who grew up in Central Pennsylvania’s snack-food belt eating UTZ, Nibbles with Gibbles, and Middleswarth Potato Chips, this was such a treat.

Crazy enough, I’ve known Adam for over a decade! Over the years, we’ve teamed up on a handful of BroBible food videos, including ranking pizzerias and breakfast-sandwich taste tests. This time, during a quick trip to Los Angeles, Adam dropped by the studio to talk about Man vs. Food and his many other travel and food shows.

On this episode, we revisit Adam’s early days pioneering food challenges, dig into his new Food Network show, Adam Richman Eats Football (which explores soccer culture and cuisine in the UK), and share hilarious celebrity dinner stories—including a memorable steak dinner with Bryan Cranston. Adam also recalls filming with Dean Norris (of Breaking Bad), ranks even more pizzerias across the country, and weighs in on Philly cheesesteaks and Martin’s Potato Rolls.

Plus, in the spirit of Los Angeles, Adam and I try an infamous $20 Korean short-rib burrito from Erewhon!

Learn more about Adam’s epic TV career, his passion for sports, and a preview of upcoming projects like Food That Built America, Pro Moves, and Unearth Mysteries. It’s a jam-packed, laughter-filled episode you won’t want to miss!

Please subscribe + watch more episodes!!!! I'd be so stoked. I have a ton of goals for channel, and I'm looking forward to bringing you more conversations like this!

  • Jake Jolly: How Phish and The Grateful Dead Found Their Way Into Fox Sports NFL Games
    2024/12/11

Ever catch a Phish or Grateful Dead song sneaking into the bumper music during an NFL or college football game on Fox Sports? That's the TV magic of Jake Jolly—Los Angeles-based Fox Sports broadcast producer and jam band aficionado. Full name Jake Jolivette, he’s the mastermind behind blending Widespread Panic, The Disco Biscuits, Moe, and other jam band staples into Fox Sport's music packages, bridging the gap between live sports and the jam scene in a way live music fans can't help but notice.

I've bumped into Jake at plenty of shows around LA—clearly, we’re on the same wavelength musically. So, I invited him on the first-ever studio-recorded episode of The Mostly Occasionally Show. We dig into his journey with Phish and the Dead, his college days in Ohio, and how he’s brought jam band energy to the sports world. Plus, we chat about viral moments, Twitter buzz, and the grapevine reactions from sports fans and bands alike. We had a blast yapping together IRL on a Monday afternoon.
