  • Scott Rogowsky ("Quiz Daddy") on His Journey with Phish & The Power Of Gratitude
    2025/06/30

I'm sure y'all remember Scott Rogowsky, the iconic “Quiz Daddy” from the HQ Trivia phenomenon back in 2017-2018. Turns out, he’s also a massive Phish fan, just like me. After Phish's 2025 spring tour on the West Coast, Scott penned an incredibly thoughtful and introspective essay on his Substack about his personal journey with the band. It really stuck out to me because it goes way beyond setlists and jams.

I was so moved by his writing that I knew I had to invite him on The Mostly Occasionally Show to yap about it. This conversation is a deep dive into personal growth, shedding cynicism, and what it truly means to “surrender to the flow.” Scott gets real about his experience with the Hoffman Process, a life-changing retreat that helped him re-evaluate negativity and find a new sense of gratitude, both in life and at shows.

We explore how our relationship with a band like Phish can mirror our own maturity as millennials entering mid-life, from the wide-eyed innocence of our first shows to the jaded snark of our 20s, and finally, to a place of pure appreciation for the moment. It was amazing to connect with Scott on how this shared experience shapes our worldview.

Huge thanks to Scott for being so open and gracious with his time and his story. You’ve gotta go read his original essay, titled "You Enjoy My Band" linked below!

  • G-Eazy Is 35, Lives in New York, And Reinventing Himself on 'Helium'—His First Album in Four Years (Interview)
    2025/05/23

G-Eazy's new album, "Helium," just dropped—his first in four years and easily his most personal yet.

Remember peak G-Eazy? A decade ago, he soundtracked your messiest breakups, late-night Uber rides, and Sunday Scaries brunches. Now at 35, after a whirlwind of fame, loss, and reinvention, the Bay Area rapper is diving deep and opening up. On today's Mostly Occasionally, G-Eazy joins us to talk about why he stepped back from LA stardom, moved to New York, got trippy and introspective on new tracks like "Kiss The Sky," and how "Helium" is his way of sharing a lifetime of birthday parties with his brother and the world.

We unpack the music, the memories, and the messy parts of growing up—for him and all of us.

Thanks for listening. Throw me a follow if you dig this interview and

  • Forrest Galante: The Wildlife Biologist Taking on Pablo Escobar's Hippos
    2025/04/10

This week on Mostly Occasionally, I catch up with wildlife biologist, TV host, and certified madman Forrest Galante.

You might know Forrest Galante from his many Discovery Channel and Animal Planet shows, starting with Naked and Afraid back in 2013, where people survive in the jungle with no clothes. Since then, he’s built a career chasing lost species, hosting Extinct or Alive, and turning the public eye toward wildlife conservation in a way that’s actually effective. He’s really damn good at it and has the scars and stories to prove it.

He just got back from Colombia, where he’s been working hands-on with the government to tackle one of the strangest ecological disasters on Earth: Pablo Escobar’s hippos. What started as a drug kingpin’s exotic pets has exploded into an invasive species crisis, with hundreds of massive, unpredictable animals wreaking havoc on the local ecosystem and neighboring communities.

    We get into:

    • The surreal reality of the “cocaine hippos” (yes, that’s a real thing)
    • Why it’s not as simple as just shooting them (though Forrest says… maybe it should be?)
    • The process of catching, chemically castrating, and relocating 4-ton animals
    • Why his production company is literally financing conservation work
    • And what the U.S. could learn from Colombia when it comes to wildlife management

Hope you enjoy the conversation as much as I did!
