このコンテンツについて
I'm sure y'all remember Scott Rogowsky, the iconic “Quiz Daddy” from the HQ Trivia phenomenon back in 2017-2018. Turns out, he’s also a massive Phish fan, just like me. After Phish's 2025 spring tour on the West Coast, Scott penned an incredibly thoughtful and introspective essay on his Substack about his personal journey with the band. It really stuck out to me because it goes way beyond setlists and jams.
I was so moved by his writing that I knew I had to invite him on The Mostly Occasionally Show to yap about it. This conversation is a deep dive into personal growth, shedding cynicism, and what it truly means to “surrender to the flow.” Scott gets real about his experience with the Hoffman Process, a life-changing retreat that helped him re-evaluate negativity and find a new sense of gratitude, both in life and at shows.
We explore how our relationship with a band like Phish can mirror our own maturity as millennials entering mid-life, from the wide-eyed innocence of our first shows to the jaded snark of our 20s, and finally, to a place of pure appreciation for the moment. It was amazing to connect with Scott on how this shared experience shapes our worldview.
Huge thanks to Scott for being so open and gracious with his time and his story. You’ve gotta go read his original essay, titled "You Enjoy My Band" linked below!
