  • A Ranger’s Reflections, Part 2: The Bloody Battle of Bunker Hill
    2026/08/17

The American Revolution continues with Part 2 of our conversation with Ranger Rick Lawson. Rick recounts the pivotal Battle of Bunker Hill, fought outside Boston on June 17, 1775. Although the battle ended in a British victory, it demonstrated the determination and resilience of the Patriot forces while foreshadowing the tremendous human and financial costs of the Revolutionary War. Rick also shares insights from his years as an interpretive ranger at Boston National Historical Park, including his experience interpreting the history of the Bunker Hill Monument.

  • A Ranger's Reflections, Part 1: The Battles of Lexington & Concord
    2026/07/27

Join Katie and Luke in conversation with retired National Park Service Ranger Rick Lawson for an in-depth exploration of the Battles of Lexington and Concord on April 19, 1775. Against the backdrop of mounting tensions over British taxation, the occupation of Boston, and the erosion of self-government in Massachusetts, colonial militia and minute companies confronted British regulars marching to Concord to seize military supplies. The fighting marked the opening of the American Revolution, with the "shot heard round the world" at the North Bridge becoming an enduring symbol of the conflict's beginning. Rick also reflects on his years interpreting this history at Minute Man National Historical Park, where this sacred ground is preserved and its history commemorated.

  • Typhoid Mary: The Most Dangerous Woman in America
    2026/06/29

In 1906, New York found itself in the grips of one of the worst outbreaks of typhoid fever in its history. After an extensive investigation, the outbreak would ultimately be traced to an Irish cook by the name of Mary Mallon, an asymptomatic carrier and super spreader of of the germ Salmonella Typhi. Mary Mallon's case represents an ongoing ethical dilemma with no clear answer to the question: Are one individual's personal freedoms more important than the safety of others?

    2026/06/08

In this preview of a Patreon exclusive episode, Katie & Luke discuss the film that launched Mel Gibson as cinema historian, "Braveheart". Enter the world of late stage 90's mullets, anachronistic costumes, and a blatant disregard for the real story of William Wallace. They can take our lives, but they can never take our freedom to nitpick.

  • Thomas Paine's Body
    2026/05/04

The Morbid Museum returns with a special America 250 episode! In 1776, forgotten revolutionary and Founding Father Thomas Paine blazed a trail of powerful rhetoric with "Common Sense", a pamphlet that galvanized the citizens of British America to break away from the King. Two Hundred and Fifty years later, despite his remains being scattered in a hair-brained grave robbing plot and his reputation buried by detractors, Paine endures as a salient torch-bearer for the cause of America.
