On this episode I talk with my great friend and musical Director Jose Longoria from Houston, Texas. He is an award-winning performer and educator, and the director of Mariachi Imperial de America. His mariachi has performed internationally in Canada, China, India, and Armenia, and has won awards at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and the Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza. In 2022, Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner proclaimed July 19th to be Jose Longoria day in recognition of the musician and community leader’s cultural contributions to the city of Houston.

Lupita is my good friend and has been a middle school mariachi instructor and director for many more years. She also has her own professional mariachi here in the DFW area; "Mariachi Lone Star" which is directed by both her and her husband Juan Garcia. In this episode we talk mariachi education along with professional work alongside her family.
