It was a chastening first defeat of the 2026/27 season for Newcastle United as they conceded four goals at Elland Road in this Monday Night Football clash.Leeds United were convincing winners as they climbed to third in the fledgling Premier League table and ended Matthias Jaissle's unbeaten start as the visitors' head coach. He was not helped by the enforced early substitution of Nico González, while two of the hosts' goals took heavy deflections, but the German will know that his side fell well below the standards they'd set so far this term.Bazoumana Touré's first goal for the club following his summer move from Hoffenheim was one positive, but those were otherwise in short supply on a disappointing night in West Yorkshire.

Joe Willock's late winner gave Newcastle United victory at Millwall in the Carabao Cup third round. Willock smartly turned home Lewis Hall's cutback with ten minutes remaining at The Den to put Matthias Jaissle's men into the fourth round after a difficult evening against the Championship side, who pushed the Magpies all the way.

The hosts struck the woodwork through substitute Taïryk Arconte just moments before the decisive goal as United were forced to weather a second half storm. But Willock's winner secured Newcastle's progress on a night when considerable discipline and resilience was required on the first meeting between the two teams since 1993.

Second-half strikes from Anthony Elanga and Yoane Wissa sealed a 2-0 win for Newcastle United in Saturday's Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur. After a goalless first half at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Elanga's swivelled finish fired the visitors in front shortly after the hour mark.

Wissa's improvised finish, his first competitive goal since January, doubled United's advantage as Matthias Jaissle recorded his first Premier League win in charge of the Magpies. The German head coach made six changes from Wednesday's 3-2 win against West Bromwich Albion in the Carabao Cup, with Nico González making his Magpies bow following his transfer from Manchester City.
