Second-half strikes from Anthony Elanga and Yoane Wissa sealed a 2-0 win for Newcastle United in Saturday's Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur. After a goalless first half at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Elanga's swivelled finish fired the visitors in front shortly after the hour mark.

Wissa's improvised finish, his first competitive goal since January, doubled United's advantage as Matthias Jaissle recorded his first Premier League win in charge of the Magpies. The German head coach made six changes from Wednesday's 3-2 win against West Bromwich Albion in the Carabao Cup, with Nico González making his Magpies bow following his transfer from Manchester City.

Szoboszlai's last-gasp penalty cruelly denied Newcastle United a Premier League opening-day win at St. James' Park on Sunday. Anthony Elanga's early goal had given the Magpies a 1-0 half-time lead on Tyneside amid a raucous atmosphere. Cody Gakpo briefly levelled the scores from range at the start of the second half but substitute Joe Willock's superb finish - which came after a brilliant run from Yoane Wissa - just a couple of minutes after entering the fray swiftly put the hosts back in front.
