Creation and the Fall The story begins with Adam and Eve, the first humans created by God in the Garden of Eden. They live in harmony with God until they disobey Him by eating from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, introducing sin and death into the world. Humanity is thus separated from God, setting the stage for His plan of redemption.
The Covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob Generations later, God establishes a covenant with Abraham, promising to make his descendants a great nation and to bless all nations through him. Abraham's son, Isaac, and grandson, Jacob (later named Israel), inherit this covenant. Jacob's twelve sons become the founders of the Twelve Tribes of Israel, through whom God’s promise continues.
Preparation for Jesus Throughout the Old Testament, prophets foretell the coming of a Messiah who will restore the broken relationship between God and humanity. The history of Israel—including their slavery in Egypt, deliverance through Moses, establishment in the Promised Land, and eventual exile—is marked by a cycle of sin, judgment, and redemption, all pointing toward a need for a savior.
The Birth, Death, and Resurrection of Jesus The New Testament introduces Jesus Christ, born of the Virgin Mary in Bethlehem, fulfilling Old Testament prophecies. Jesus lives a sinless life, teaches about God's kingdom, performs miracles, and demonstrates God's love and truth. He is eventually crucified, taking upon Himself the sins of the world. His resurrection three days later conquers sin and death, offering salvation to all who believe.
The Coming of the Holy Spirit and the Ascension After His resurrection, Jesus ascends to heaven, promising to send the Holy Spirit to empower His followers. On Pentecost, the Holy Spirit descends upon the disciples, enabling them to spread the Gospel and establish the early Church.
The Promise of Jesus' Return The New Testament concludes with the promise of Jesus’ return, when He will establish a new heaven and earth, judge the living and the dead, and bring ultimate fulfillment to God’s plan of redemption. Believers are encouraged to live with hope and readiness for this Second Coming, where God's kingdom will be fully realized.
This narrative forms the foundation of Christian faith, emphasizing God's love, redemption through Jesus, and the hope of eternal life.
