David Rattenbury - Dave “The Ratt” was a blast to catch up with. We met a few years back in Southend where he was running a ViP event for the Lost Angels supergroup at Chinnerys. It was a blast as we’ve stayed in touch over the years and I’ve seem Dave develop his skills as a photographer and continue to level up.

He was invited out to the Birmingham Black Sabbath Back to The Beginning show in July, 2025 to celebrate Ozzy and the legacy that Sabbath has left behind. He has photographed a ton of events along the road but he shares a lot about the journey making his way to that stage and what he’s learned as a photographer as well as working with a number of artists on the road.

He shares a lot of insight here about etiquette and working with celebrities at all levels and giving a safe space in doing so that confidentiality is never breached and he truly looks at not only capturing the moment on photograph but capturing the moment in appreciating how special it is to be witness to different events and to relish in the moment itself.

This episode is all about using the resources available to us at any given period in time. I often see how we can be so quick to give up, throw in the towel on our goals and dreams OR how we overextend ourselves more than what we can handle in hopes it’ll help us achieve our long term goals.

Today I’m sharing some stories about how things started when I ventured off into starting my own business fully back in 2023 (officially) and how I definitely over extended myself by overestimating what I’d do! I’m also talking about how we can fool ourselves into thinking that the lack of resources that we appear to have is what holds us back instead of using what we have to grow and leverage. Whether that comes to releasing music, marketing yourself as an artist or on other business endeavours. By essentially starting “where we’re at”, it gives us so much more flexibility in everything that we do and everything we want to do.

I felt so lucky to have time to talk with Lucy about her incredible business Lucy Can’t Dance. She shares how she started out and ended up building her business in the bridal sector. While she studied acting and singing, she was always up-cycling finds from the charity shops and then working in a dressmaking shop. She branched out making her own line of clothing when she was commissioned to make a wedding dress which ended up turning into her main beautiful business!

I was lucky enough to find Lucy before my wedding when I couldn’t find a dress that I felt would suit me. When I discovered her unique designs that really seemed to be made for every single bride where other bridal shops seemed to fit only the standard look, Lucy is there to save the day with every imaginable dress possible. Of course, my dress had to be black! And how lovely to be met with absolutely zero shame for the colour that has always made me feel my best and most confident.

Lucy is famous for her dip dye dresses that she’ll do in any design and colour as well as giving women options whether it’s traditional vibes you want to bring to your wedding or the beautiful options of two pieces, pant suits, mini dresses and more. Lucy also makes them wearable past the wedding date or will work your wedding dress into something you can wear forever. I love how she believes so deeply that your dress should not live in the wardrobe after the big day.

I’ve been thinking deeply about the way we talk to ourselves and how it shapes our lives in the every day. I know that for myself, I can easily get caught up in the negative self talk, or framing situations from a less than positive perspective for myself. Ooops! But yes, I definitely get caught up in that. I think they key is how do we change our self talk patterns to create positive impact on our lives because I notice time and time again that once we change the mindset behind it, we change so much in our external world as well.

There can definitely be obstacles along the way that can restrict us, hold us back, but pushing forward helps that transformation continue and helps us develop healthy patterns to build our futures.

We sat down with Bagus today to talk all things percussion, music and how you play to your strengths and find the ability to express yourself through music. Bagus plays across a variety of genres including playing in marching bands in Norway. Bagus shares his experiences about stepping into your own and getting comfortable when you break away from societal norms to become the person you were meant to be and have always been.

As much as I love talking about the music with Bagus, I love his outlook on life and his approach to fashion and style and how it becomes a major expression of self and makes up a huge part of the road of self-discovery. Allowing yourself to explore and to feel is such a beautiful experience! I think Bagus is that reminder that again, we can be whatever we want to be and show up the ways that feel comfortable for us.

This episode is all about how we approach the inevitable things that come up in life, the changes that we face. Whether we are welcoming the change or not, it still is a lot to go through! I have shared a little bit about the changes that I went through over the last 7 years since moving to the UK and what an upheaval came to my life through that. I look back on it and see that it was imperative for growth and building the life that I wanted. It was also important for really discovering all aspects of myself.

It doesn’t always have to be perfect when you’re going through it. It doesn’t have to look pretty and it can absolutely be a total mess. When we’re in these periods of intense change and navigating uncharted waters, remember to be kind to yourself and reflect on your strength.

Dreams change, realities change, the big focus can change and defining the things that are important to us can also change. All of it is okay and it can be absolutely terrifying to go through, but we find our way through it sometimes drawing from the depths of our emotional and physical resources. It’s not a walk in the park by any stretch of the imagination, but there is growth and learning on the other side of it all.

If you’ve been struggling with changes in your life, remember you’re not alone and that there are great things on the horizon - even if it doesn’t feel that way right now.

Today we sat down with Ares, the founder of both the band Aeternus and the Dark Metal genre. Ares comes to us from his hometown of Bergen Norway and brings us through the history of Aeternus starting with his deep influences of classic rock bands like Kiss and the Heavy Metal gods we all think of today. Ares shares his methods of songwriting and some of the concepts through each album. He tells how he embraces nature and healthy living and how it’s changed over the years. It was such a pleasure listening to Ares' insights on confidence and creating in the way that feels right for you and that you connect with

Legends in their own right, Aeternus brings the true vibe of dark metal combined with a variety of other genres that you can hear influenced throughout each album.

Aeternus is going strong since its inception over 30 years ago and after finishing a European tour earlier this year, they head to Spain later this summer for the Drums of War festival August 27, 28 & 29, 2026 as well as dates at the Summer of Chaos festival in Brazil, December 2026!

It always amazes me how much scrutiny women get for having a career and being a mum. In this day and age, it shocks me. Today we’re talking primarily about women in music and this odd idea that they give up their careers and they’ll never succeed simply with the fact of having children. If that’s the case, men should have the same ideals put on them when they become parents. But even outside of the entertainment world, women face so much discrimination whether they are or are not parents or even what their intentions around becoming a parent are. Sometimes, it feels like you just can’t win.

We can begin to change this by speaking up when you hear people say “she shouldn’t have had a kid, her career is over” or when people put any kind of limits on what women can or can’t do. Stand up against it and challenge those ideas.

What I really want to drive home here is that it absolutely changes things when you have kids, but it doesn’t mean that you need to stop dreaming, planning and moving towards your goals. Especially when you find the woman that will do it all for her kids, nothing can stop her!! So cheer those local artists on, cheer on the businesswomen, and hell, cheer on the dads too!
