  • The Fifth Hour: White Whale
    2026/08/30

The Sunday pod throws you a curveball—we’re putting the usual mailbag in mothballs for a week. Why? Because we’re still basking in the strange, slightly sticky afterglow of Saturday’s big Maller Meet & Greet in Las Vegas. Benny opens the case files from the Maller Bureau of Investigations, where an unofficially deputized P1 went above and beyond in the years-long hunt for our elusive White Whale. Captain Ahab had the ocean; we apparently have sports-radio archives and people with way too much free time. Then there’s dinner. A simple plan. What could possibly go wrong? Everything. Instead of arriving at the Temple of Cholesterol for some artery-clogging fellowship, Ben somehow ends up in a cul-de-sac involving a Honda and fertilizer. Honda. Fertilizer. Cul-de-sac. Perfect. Because apparently asking for dinner directions now requires a degree in urban planning and a hazmat endorsement. It’s the Fifth Hour—where even getting something to eat becomes a three-act disaster.

  • The Fifth Hour: The Gremlin Manifesto
    2026/08/29

Ben Maller gets you ready for the Comic-Con for people with insomnia, otherwise known as the Maller Meet & Greet in Las Vegas—because apparently strangers from overnight radio gathering in a bar is considered a social event. Plus, Ben unveils The Gremlin Manifesto, a tale as old as technology itself. After another romantic dance with the tech gods ended with equipment going haywire, Ben was forced to launch a one-man counterinsurgency from the old country. Nothing dramatic, just a grown man fighting machines that are supposed to make life easier. Ben also produces dusty official, government-stamped paperwork. Yes, apparently the government once took time away from misplacing billions of dollars to certify something involving Ben Maller. Finally, your tax dollars at work. All that and more on The Fifth Hour with Ben Maller.

  • The Fifth Hour: Bye Bye Bernie
    2026/08/28

For nine years, Bernie Fratto has been a granite countertop of weekend overnight radio on Fox Sports Radio — dependable, durable and somehow still standing after years of exposure to the radioactive waste known as the broadcasting business. A longtime pinch-hitter on the Ben Maller Show, Bernie drops by the Audio Sweatshop before taking a sabbatical from professional gasbaggery. Bernie and Ben unlock the Nostalgia Vault, dust off the broadcasting fossils and swap you-can’t-make-this-up tales from the Radio Wars — strange bosses, stranger decisions and enough broadcasting malpractice to fill a Costco. It’s a Fifth Hour exclusive! Climb aboard the Nostalgia Train as we travel back to radio’s wonderfully dysfunctional past, where common sense went to die and every hallway had a story.

    All aboard!

  • The Fifth Hour: Robbie The Mariners Fan Mailbag!
    2026/08/23

The Fifth Hour with Ben Maller sets sail into the murky waters of the Sunday Mailbag, with Robbie the Mariners Fan riding shotgun as the fellas swashbuckle their way through another hodgepodge of listener questions. On the menu: a Mike & Dogs invasion of the Ben Maller Show, the great Starbucks relocation mystery, Fake News, and the comedy stylings of Lucky Tony. Also, doggy diets, Piggly Wiggly problems, automobiles with enough miles to qualify for Social Security, and living that sweet lake life. The boys visit the top human zoo on the planet, activate the Marlins Man hotline, investigate why squids are apparently taking over the highways, and debate whether kids should actually get paid to attend school. Holy cannoli! Whatever happened to a gold star and a carton of chocolate milk? It's a grab bag of malarkey, mayhem, Maller Math, and listener-generated nonsense. No hocus-pocus, just focus!

  • The Fifth Hour: Tabernacle of The Chicken Finger With Eddie Garcia
    2026/08/22

Ben spills the exclusive details of his long-overdue power lunch with former radio sidekick Eddie Garcia — the who, what, where, when and why of the whole operation. It required the Army Corps of Engineers, some highly questionable Maller Math and enough travel to qualify as a Lewis & Clark expedition. The destination? The Tabernacle of the Chicken Finger, where Benny reveals exactly how much power 25+ years at Fox Sports Radio gets you. Spoiler: not much. Plus, we workshop the first-ever Milky Way NFL Draft featuring the Grays, Nordics, Insectoids and Reptilians. Which alien species goes No. 1 overall, and naturally, how do the Browns screw it up? Then it's Tooth Fairy economics: Santa Claus' overnight-working younger sibling has been collecting chompers for generations — but just how many teeth can the Tooth Fairy theoretically harvest from one kid? We crunch the numbers on that brain buster and more in this completely unnecessary, yet somehow must-listen edition of the Fifth Hour.

  • The Fifth Hour: The Maller Matchmaker
    2026/08/21

One random night watching a Yankees and Orioles game somehow turned Ben Maller into the executive producer and kingpin of "The Maller Matchmaker: Friend Edition," a completely spontaneous and unnecessary adventure some 2,300-miles away from the People's Republic of California, co-starring Marlins Man and Sports With Coleman. Because when you see Marlins Man behind home plate, naturally the next move is to start meddling in people’s lives. Along the way, Ben plays the adult version of Where’s Waldo?, while Bob Uecker, Don King, Casey Kasem-style “long-distance dedications,” and the Pentagon somehow wander into the story. Sure, why not? Then there’s the important historical investigation nobody requested: What clothing item did President Truman, Elvis Presley, Tom Selleck, and Jimmy Buffett help make popular? We also squeeze in the Atari 2600, Jonestown, and the philosophical dilemma that has tortured mankind for generations: What exactly qualifies as Kool-Aid? It’s Friday’s Fifth Hour — a perfectly normal podcast made by perfectly normal people, unless it's not.

  • The Fifth Hour: Marcel in Brooklyn Mailbag!
    2026/08/16

The rumors are true — the man, the myth, the legend, Marcel in Brooklyn escapes the mean streets long enough to punch the clock inside Ben’s audio sweatshop for another supersized Fifth Hour Mailbag extravaganza. The boys rifle through listener questions from across America and beyond, reminiscing about the annual childhood shakedown known as back-to-school shopping, the infamous day Ben Maller was excommunicated from Fox Sports Radio for six months and 26 days, and — because apparently this is what the audience demands — more stories from the toilet. Also on the menu: Little League instant replay, the mysterious disappearance of Credit Card Gordon, car breakdown horror stories, and a Maller mind-bender involving LeBron James, Kyler Murray and those lovable trash-can enthusiasts, the cheating Astros. Plus, how long is too long for family to visit? China’s bullet train, Starbucks coffee gone horribly wrong, and Weed Man transforming into Hawaiian Pig Farmer. And somehow, that’s merely scratching the surface of this jumbo-sized mailbag of nonsense. You can follow Marcel in Brooklyn @MMyrick29 on all the socials for his "unique" style of broadcasting. Download, consume and try not to hurt yourself.

  • The Fifth Hour: The Day an Egg McMuffin Owned Mr. Met
    2026/08/15

Benny cracks open the Fifth Hour vault for a never-before-told tale from a sultry afternoon at Shea Stadium, when an Egg McMuffin somehow owned Mr. Met and brought the usual pregame schmoozing to a screeching halt. It’s one of those wonderfully ridiculous “you had to be there” baseball stories, preserved in Benny’s memory for nearly three decades. From there, Ben reacts to the latest gold rush for the Hamburglar, who apparently has upgraded his criminal enterprise and graduated from swiping ordinary burgers. Then it’s off to the hodgepodge, where no useful knowledge is required: honey bees come equipped with their own built-in air conditioning, the Japanese practice the woodland magic of Shinrin-Yoku, and the French once called tomatoes “love apples” because they supposedly put a little extra ooh-la-la in the boudoir. Baseball, burgers, bees, trees, and aphrodisiac tomatoes — another perfectly wackadoodle edition of the Fifth Hour.
