    TONIGHT’S SCRIPTURE:

    1 Peter 5:8–9

Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. [9] Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. (ESV)

    SUMMARY

We read 1 Peter 5:8-9 and sit with the startling image of the devil as a roaring lion. We unpack what it means to resist with steady faith, remember we are not alone in suffering, and end with a prayer for watchfulness and rest.

    • facing the fear in the “roaring lion” image without panic
    • defining “firm in your faith” as confidence in Jesus Christ
    • remembering God lives in us and gives strength to resist
    • taking comfort that believers worldwide share similar suffering
    • closing prayer for protection, grace, and peaceful sleep

  • 262-Humble yourself (1 Peter 5:6-7) || The Evening Mindset - Christian Bible Meditation and Bedtime Prayer
    2026/09/17

Send Carey a note (sorry, replies are not possible at this time)

    TONIGHT’S SCRIPTURE:

    1 Peter 5:6–7

Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, [7] casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. (ESV)

    SUMMARY

We center our evening mindset on 1 Peter 5:6-7 and sit with what it means to humble ourselves under God’s mighty hand. We connect humility to anxiety relief by choosing a true view of God as Creator and ourselves as His cared-for creation.

    • reading and framing 1 Peter 5:6-7 as a mindset meditation
    • correcting the idea that humility means being walked on
    • seeing humility as a realistic relationship with God
    • trusting God’s mighty hand as power and care
    • casting anxieties on God with confidence because He cares
    • closing prayer for love, grace, mercy, and right perspective

  • 261-Clothe yourself with humility (1 Peter 5:5) || The Evening Mindset - Christian Bible Meditation and Bedtime Prayer
    2026/09/16

Send Carey a note (sorry, replies are not possible at this time)

    TONIGHT’S SCRIPTURE:

    1 Peter 5:5

Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” (ESV)

    SUMMARY

We slow down with 1 Peter 5:5 and let the warning about pride and the promise of grace settle into our hearts as we get ready to rest. We picture humility as something we put on, asking the Holy Spirit to shape our prayers, our relationships, and our service so people see Jesus in us.

    • reflecting on God opposing pride and giving grace to the humble
    • choosing humility as the path to unity with others
    • considering others more important, guided by Philippians 2
    • serving without needing anything in return
    • picturing humility as clothing we wear outwardly
    • connecting Christlikeness with becoming humble
    • praying to bow our hearts as we bow our heads
    • asking the Holy Spirit to teach us to serve, love, and redeem
