• 74. Beyond Integrating Faith and Medicine: Learning to Partner With the Holy Spirit
    2026/10/13

    Send us Fan Mail

What does it actually mean to be a Christian physician?

Is it being compassionate, practicing excellent medicine, praying for patients, or sharing your faith when the opportunity arises?

Those are all good things. But what if that's only ankle-deep water?

What if integrating faith and medicine isn't really about figuring out how to bring Jesus into your work?

What if it's about becoming so transformed by Christ that there are no longer two separate lives to integrate?

In this episode of The Christian Physician Podcast, I'm challenging us to go deeper.

We're talking about our identity in Christ, the transforming power of the Holy Spirit, and what it looks like to move beyond simply being a "good Christian doctor" into a life of genuine partnership with Jesus.

Because Christ lives in you. You carry His presence into every patient encounter, every meeting, and every hospital room.

The question isn't just, "How can I bring God into my work?"

It's "Jesus, what are You already doing here, and how can I partner with You?"

If you've been hungry for more of God in your life and medical practice, this episode is for you.

  • 73. Don't Just Read the Bible—Pray It: How Busy Physicians can Pray Scripture Over Your Life
    2026/10/06

    Send us Fan Mail

Have you ever sat down to pray and realized you don’t actually know what to say?

Maybe your mind immediately goes to your patients, your family, your schedule, and everything you need God to fix.

But what if Scripture itself could teach you how to pray?

In this episode of The Christian Physician Podcast, I’m sharing a simple but powerful practice that has deeply impacted my own prayer life: praying the Word of God out loud over yourself.

Instead of separating Bible reading from prayer, what if you allowed Scripture to become your prayer?

I’ll walk you through exactly how to do this and demonstrate it using Psalm 1, Psalm 23, and Ephesians 1. You’ll hear how you can take the words right in front of you and turn them into personal prayers over your identity, your calling, your family, your workplace, and your life in medicine.

    We’ll talk about:

    • Why Bible reading and prayer don’t have to be two separate parts of your quiet time
    • How praying Scripture helps get the Word of God “on the inside” of you
    • How to turn a Psalm into a personal prayer
    • Practical examples from Psalm 1 and Psalm 23
    • How to pray Paul’s prayers in Ephesians over yourself
    • Scriptures to pray when you need wisdom, feel anxious, or want to put on the armor of God
    • How to begin even if praying Scripture feels unfamiliar or awkward

You don’t need an elaborate prayer routine. You don’t need the perfect words.

Open your Bible. Read the Word out loud. And as a verse speaks to you, begin praying it back to God.

Don’t just read the Word. Pray the Word.

  • 72. Feeling Alone in Medicine? 3 Ways Christian Physicians Can Reconnect With God & Community
    2026/09/22

    Send us Fan Mail

Medicine can be full of people—and still feel incredibly lonely.

Maybe you feel like the only Christian physician in your workplace. Maybe you’ve slowly become disconnected from church, community, prayer, or even God Himself.

And the longer isolation goes on, the harder it can feel to get back.

In this episode, I share three simple—but powerful—ways to break that cycle:

    • Come back to prayer as real conversation with God
    • Get back into the Word, even if you start with just a few verses
    • Choose Christian community, especially when you don’t feel like it

You were never meant to do medicine—or follow Jesus—alone.

https://www.globalmri.org/Does God still heal today? And can healing prayer and miracles actually be studied scientifically?

In this fascinating conversation, I sit down with Candy Gunther Brown, PhD, professor of Religious Studies at Indiana University and author of Testing Prayer: Science and Healing. We talk about the scientific investigation of healing prayer, medically documented miracles, and whether faith and medicine really have to be at odds.

We also explore what happens when medicine alone doesn't answer people's deepest questions, why spiritual and alternative healing practices are increasingly attractive, and how Christian physicians can approach these questions with both biblical grounding and intellectual integrity.

  • 70. Do Miracles Still Happen Today? Healing, the Holy Spirit & Medicine | Interview with Ken Fish
    2026/09/09

    Send us Fan Mail

Do miracles still happen today? Does God still heal? And are healing, prophecy, deliverance, signs and wonders, and the gifts of the Holy Spirit still available to Christians today?

In this episode of The Christian Physician Podcast, I sit down with Ken Fish, founder of Orbis Ministries, to explore healing and miracles, Christian healing prayer, the Holy Spirit, cessationism, supernatural healing, and the intersection of faith and medicine.

Ken shares how his worldview began to change after studying at Princeton and wrestling honestly with a disconnect: the Bible clearly describes Jesus and His disciples healing the sick and moving in supernatural power but much of Western Christianity taught him not to expect those things today.

Then he began encountering things he could not easily explain away.

Ken shares the story of watching his mother’s painful mouth sores disappear during healing prayer, his years with John Wimber, and several extraordinary healing testimonies from decades of ministry.

We also explore why Western medicine has become increasingly open to spirituality and alternative healing practices, why the Church cannot afford to abandon the conversation around healing, and what role Christian physicians and healthcare professionals may have in bringing a biblically grounded understanding of healing, the Holy Spirit, and the Kingdom of God back into medicine.

  • 69. What Happens When God Interrupts Your Physician Career? Healing, Miracles, Calling and the Vision for Heal the Healers
    2026/09/04

    Send us Fan Mail

Have you ever wondered if the experiences, skills, struggles, and unexpected turns in your life are actually preparing you for something God hasn’t revealed yet?

How do you recognize when God is calling you into a new assignment?

And what do you do when that calling feels far bigger than you?

In this episode, my friend Marilyn Kaminsky, founder of White Coat Revival and ViaRayma, turns the tables and interviews me! We talk about calling, obedience, faith and medicine—and the surprising ways God can prepare us years, even decades, before we understand what He was preparing us for.

I share the story behind Heal the Healers, the patient encounter that changed my understanding of prayer, how seemingly unrelated parts of my medical and leadership career converged, and what I’ve learned about taking the next step when God’s assignment feels impossible.

If you’re trying to discern what God is calling you to do in this season, this conversation will encourage you to look back, pay attention, and trust that He may have been preparing you longer than you realize.

What if you love Jesus, go to church, serve faithfully, and are doing all the “right” Christian things—but deep down, you know something is missing?

What if following Jesus was never meant to feel like more striving? Or doing more things.

And what happens when God suddenly challenges what you believe about healing, miracles, the Holy Spirit, and even the way you practice medicine?

In this episode, I sit down with surgeon and ordained minister Dr. Matthew Suh, for a powerful conversation about burnout, surrender, hearing the voice of Jesus, miraculous healing, the gift of faith, and learning to integrate faith and medicine in a completely different way.

If you’ve been hungry for more of God—but aren’t quite sure what “more” looks like—this conversation is for you.

  • 67. Want to Become a Better Leader? The #1 Leadership Principle Every Christian Physician Should Know
    2026/08/19

    Send us Fan Mail

What if becoming a better leader has less to do with getting a title and more to do with how you lead yourself when no one is watching?

Leadership begins long before you lead a team, department, organization, or ministry. It begins with your everyday choices, habits, reactions, priorities, and willingness to follow through on what God has already asked you to do.

In this episode, we’re talking about self-leadership as a spiritual discipline and why self-control is more than a productivity skill. It’s a fruit of the Spirit.

    We’ll talk about:

    • Why you can be highly disciplined and still struggle with self-leadership
    • How your reactions, boundaries, and follow-through affect your leadership
    • The difference between self-control and simply trying harder
    • How to recognize procrastination, avoidance, and misplaced priorities
    • Why sometimes “waiting for more confirmation” is actually keeping us from obeying what God has already shown us

Here’s your challenge: Where is God asking you to lead yourself better in this season?

Take that question into your quiet time this week. Ask the Lord to show you one area where you already know what to do, but haven’t consistently followed through.
