In this episode of The Christian Physician Podcast, I’m sharing a simple but powerful practice that has deeply impacted my own prayer life: praying the Word of God out loud over yourself.

Instead of separating Bible reading from prayer, what if you allowed Scripture to become your prayer?

I’ll walk you through exactly how to do this and demonstrate it using Psalm 1, Psalm 23, and Ephesians 1. You’ll hear how you can take the words right in front of you and turn them into personal prayers over your identity, your calling, your family, your workplace, and your life in medicine.

We’ll talk about:

• Why Bible reading and prayer don’t have to be two separate parts of your quiet time
• How praying Scripture helps get the Word of God “on the inside” of you
• How to turn a Psalm into a personal prayer
• Practical examples from Psalm 1 and Psalm 23
• How to pray Paul’s prayers in Ephesians over yourself
• Scriptures to pray when you need wisdom, feel anxious, or want to put on the armor of God
• How to begin even if praying Scripture feels unfamiliar or awkward

You don’t need an elaborate prayer routine. You don’t need the perfect words.

Open your Bible. Read the Word out loud. And as a verse speaks to you, begin praying it back to God.

Don’t just read the Word. Pray the Word.
