In 1 Corinthians Chapter 4, the Holy Spirit continues addressing the divisions within the Corinthian church. Paul and Apollos are affirmed as faithful stewards of the mysteries of God — not because of their status, but because they were found faithful.

Paul highlights a dangerous arrogance that had crept into the church — a pride that produces lofty words but lacks the power of the Holy Spirit. He draws a sharp contrast:

“I will know, not the word of those who are puffed up, but the power. For the kingdom of God is not in word but in power.”

This chapter calls us to walk in the Spirit, not just talk about it — and to imitate those who truly live by the power of God, not just persuasive speech.

In chapter 1 and 3 of 1st Corinthians, the church was rebuked for carnality. They were told that they couldn't receive the deep things of the Spirit of God because of their carnality. But what exactly was their carnality? Was it a list of specific sins? Was it something to do with the spiritual gifts? We will see in today's teaching on this chapter!

Did you know that you have the mind of Christ! Did you know that you know all things? Sounds wrong, right? To the natural man, the mind, the reasoning, the intellect, yes. But I'm talking about a spiritual truth; something that only the Holy Spirit can show you. We'll go over all of this in today's teaching on 1 Corinthians chapter 2.

Today's teaching is through 1 Corinthians chapter 1 verses 10 through 31. In it we will talk about avoiding division in the church, looking to Christ crucified instead of man and man's wisdom, and what it means to, at least in part, glory in Jesus.

Today we're starting a new series where we're going through the book of 1st Corinthians. There's a ton packed into just these first nine verses! It talks about how we are (already done) sanctified, we're called saints, how we've been enriched in everything by Jesus, and more. I pray that you catch the powerful truths that I did by the Holy Spirit through this first passage in 1st Corinthians.

Jesus said "Preach" and as you go "Heal the sick, cleans the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons." But what exactly does that look like? How do we heal the sick? Today's teaching should enable and empower you to go out and do what Jesus has asked you to do. This is the practical application of what we've been learning for a couple months now.

"Unless you people see signs and wonders, you will by no means believe." Did you know that there are certain people that "unless" they see signs and wonders, they will "by no means" believe? This is huge! This means that if the church doesn't walk in healing, miracles, signs, and wonders, people who could otherwise believe, will never have the opportunity to. There's no other way for them. "By no means". This teaching from the Word of God should give you boldness to continue to be zealous for Spiritual gifts, as they are necessary for the salvation of many others.

This is a continuation of last weeks teaching titled "Just Preach the Gospel". While that week's teaching focused on the definition of the gospel, this week's teaching focuses on eliminating the belief that miracles, signs, and wonders are irrelevant to the gospel today. They are most definitely part of the gospel! Jesus commissioned us to "preach the kingdom of God AND to heal the sick". And that's exactly what we see the disciples of in the early church doing. Let's continue to do the same!
