Welcome to today’s Bible study.

In this episode of 2 Kings 22 (KJV), we continue our verse-by-verse journey through the book of 2 Kings as King Josiah begins reforms in Judah and the Book of the Law is rediscovered in the temple. This chapter explores repentance, obedience, Scripture, spiritual renewal, and God's judgment.

Josiah becomes king at a young age and does what is right in the sight of the LORD. During repairs to the temple, Hilkiah the high priest discovers the Book of the Law and gives it to Shaphan the scribe, who reads it before the king.

When Josiah hears the words of the Law, he tears his clothes in grief, recognizing how far Judah has strayed from God's commandments. He sends officials to inquire of the LORD through the prophetess Huldah. She confirms that judgment will come upon Judah because of its rebellion, but Josiah is promised mercy because of his humble and repentant heart.

Through this chapter, we see the power of God's Word to expose sin, awaken repentance, and call His people back to obedience.

Together, we will study this chapter verse-by-verse, exploring its historical context, theological depth, and spiritual lessons about Scripture, repentance, humility, obedience, spiritual renewal, and the mercy of the LORD.

In this episode of 2 Kings 21 (KJV), we continue our verse-by-verse journey through the book of 2 Kings as Judah falls deeper into idolatry under King Manasseh. This chapter explores rebellion, corruption, judgment, repentance, and God's holiness.

Manasseh becomes king and does evil in the sight of the LORD. He rebuilds high places, worships false gods, practices forbidden spiritual rituals, and places an idol in the temple of the LORD. His actions lead Judah into greater wickedness, and innocent blood fills Jerusalem.

God declares judgment upon Jerusalem because of the nation's persistent rebellion and Manasseh's evil leadership. After Manasseh's death, his son Amon becomes king and continues in idolatry. Amon is eventually assassinated by his servants, and his son Josiah succeeds him.

Through this chapter, we see the destructive consequences of idolatry and corrupt leadership, as well as the seriousness of rejecting God's commands.

Together, we will study this chapter verse-by-verse, exploring its historical context, theological depth, and spiritual lessons about idolatry, rebellion, leadership, judgment, repentance, and the holiness of the LORD.

In this episode of 2 Kings 20 (KJV), we continue our verse-by-verse journey through the book of 2 Kings as King Hezekiah faces a life-threatening illness, experiences God's mercy, and makes choices that affect Judah's future. This chapter explores prayer, healing, pride, gratitude, and God's sovereignty.

When Isaiah tells Hezekiah to prepare for death, the king prays earnestly, and the LORD grants him fifteen additional years of life. God confirms His promise through a miraculous sign, causing the shadow to move backward on the sundial.

Later, envoys from Babylon visit Hezekiah, who proudly shows them his treasures and possessions. Isaiah warns that Babylon will eventually carry away these treasures and that Hezekiah's descendants will face captivity. Although Hezekiah responds with relief at the promise of peace during his lifetime, the chapter highlights the consequences of pride and short-sighted leadership.

Through this chapter, we see God's power to heal and answer prayer, alongside the importance of humility, gratitude, and considering the consequences of our choices.

Together, we will study this chapter verse-by-verse, exploring its historical context, theological depth, and spiritual lessons about prayer, healing, pride, humility, prophecy, and trusting the LORD.
