  • A Podcast About Formula 1
    2024/05/21

    Hosted By: Daisy Nolasco-Flores

My show is going to be about Formula 1. Hence the title of this podcast. I’ve always been a huge fan of the sport and a lot of my friends don’t know what F1 is. I am always constantly talking about F1 because I love it so much and I want to teach others all about the sport. I especially want my podcast to target women. Women who are fans of F1 have always existed, but recently there has been an increase of female fans. Formula 1 is a male dominated sport so when women say they are fans of the sport, men always rebut with comments like “you only like Formula 1 because of the hot drivers” or “explain what DRS is” and so on. It’s so frustrating and I want to make my podcast safe for everyone but especially for the girlies.

My first episode is going to be an introduction to Formula 1. I want to talk about when it started and how popular it’s gotten throughout the years, especially in the US. I want to talk about the beginning years of F1 and where it is now, how much it’s changed. I also want to do an introduction to the 10 teams and their current drivers. I would also love to talk about all the chaos that is happening during pre-season. There is just so much drama and chaos happening this year that is insane and I have to talk about it.

  • My Best Call
    2024/05/14

    Hosted by: Aaron Partnow

“My Best Call” will take audiences into the world of sports play-by-play announcers, particularly those at the local level who captivate lesser-known sporting communities. Each episode will start with a 90-second reel of the announcer’s greatest calls over the course of their career, to establish their voice and their historical relationship to sports broadcasting. The general direction of the podcast would allow the announcer to set the scene for what they were seeing in that game and how it influenced the call they would eventually make.

For the first episode, I will be inviting the voice of my childhood in Alaska, Bruce Cech. Bruce has been the voice of Alaska Nanooks Hockey for 35 seasons. Growing up there, my mother and father worked as goal judges and penalty box attendants respectively. They did this well before I was born and were quick to get back into it, once my sister and I came along. My first Alaska Hockey game was when I was only a few weeks old, Mom at one end and Dad at the other. I sat between them with my babysitter. While we didn’t listen to Bruce on the radio during home games, his voice filled our cars and houses, whenever the team took to the road. I can see that Fairbanks and the fans of Nanooks Hockey are still a large part of who he is. I want to use this first podcast to explore how being a sports

broadcaster makes you forever a part of a local sporting community. If you do it right. Bruce has done it right and then some.

  • The Super Years
    2024/05/07

    Hosted by: Henry O’Brien

The Super Bowl has essentially become an American holiday, so this podcast will focus on what led up to the big game and every season since the big game has been around. Each episode will delve into the storylines, players, coaches, teams, and important figures from each season, giving you context to what the National Football League was like at the time. You'll hear the big voices and names from the time and get access to some of the defining plays of each Super Bowl.

The first episode focuses on the very first Super Bowl. The first AFL–NFL World Championship Game was an American football game played on January 15, 1967, at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles, California. The National Football League champion Green Bay Packers defeated the American Football League champion Kansas City Chiefs by the score of 35–10.
