In this introduction to The Romans Road, Kate takes us into the world of Paul and the church in Rome to discover why the gospel—not our eloquence—is the power of God for salvation. Together, we’ll see why Paul could experience weakness, fear, and trembling and still faithfully proclaim Christ, why the gospel is truly good news about Jesus Christ and what He has done, and why knowing and cherishing that gospel can give us a growing heart to share it with others.

This series is an invitation to know the gospel well enough to share it, learn how to open your Bible and show someone where you found it, and then trust God with what happens when you do. We plant. We water. God gives the growth.

"...praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak." (Ephesians 6:18-20)

What does it actually mean to pray in the Spirit? Why is prayer so hard for us? And what if prayer isn't what makes the armor of God work—but what keeps us dependent on the God whose armor we're wearing?

In this final episode of The Armor, Kate walks closely through Ephesians 6:18–20 to discover when, how, how long, and for whom Paul tells us to pray. Together, listeners will see how the Spirit helps us in our weakness, why perseverance in prayer matters, and what Paul's surprising prayer request from prison teaches us about asking not only for relief from the battle, but for faithfulness to God within it.

Most importantly, this episode brings the entire Armor series back to where it began: “Be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.” The goal was never to become strong enough to fight without Jesus. Fully armored still means fully dependent. And even the battles intended to drive us away from God can, in His sovereign hands, become places where we learn to know, trust, depend upon, and love our King more deeply.

You will never stop needing Jesus. And that's good news.

“Take…the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” (Ephesians 6:17b)

What does it actually mean to wield the Word of God as a weapon? How well do we need to know the Bible to use it in the middle of a spiritual battle? And what happens when the battle comes before we feel ready?

In this episode, Kate walks closely through Ephesians 6:17b to uncover what it means to take the sword of the Spirit. Together, listeners will discover why this final piece of armor is different from all the others, what Jesus teaches us about answering the enemy with the Word of God, and why the most important thing we may have overlooked about this sword is whose sword it is.

Most importantly, this episode will help you see that God has not handed you His Word and left you to figure out how to wield it alone. The Holy Spirit is our Teacher, training us throughout our lives to know God's Word, recognize lies, answer them with truth, and obey what God has said. But dependence on the Spirit doesn't mean passivity. God commands us to take the sword—to refuse to negotiate with sin and lies, to intentionally train in His Word, and not merely to defend ourselves, but to advance His truth and gospel in the world.

If you've ever felt intimidated by how much of the Bible you don't know, wondered whether you'll have the right verse when temptation or fear comes, or simply felt inadequate for the spiritual battle, this episode will remind you where your confidence belongs. You don't have to become a master swordsman before you're ready to fight. You have the Spirit of God to train you, the Word of God in your hands, and the strength of God in which to stand. So believe it. Study it. Abide in it. Obey it. Use it. And take the sword.
