Stephen, whose affiliation with the Geelong Football Club spans more than 40 years, was an accomplished footballer in his own right, playing SANFL, VFA, and QAFL football, which included a senior premiership with Southport in the 1980s.

Stephen has been in charge of Geelong’s recruiting system since 1994, taking over from the legendary Bill McMaster, and has become one of the most highly regarded recruiters to have ever worked in the game.

In this episode, Stephen talks about his start at the Cats, his greatest recruiting influences, along with his recruiting philosophies, the advancement of technology, and the club’s premiership success.

This week we go back in time with former Footscray midfielder Brian 'Chocco' Royal. Brian reminisces about his career, reflects on some of special moments during his time in the game.

A standout for the Footscray Football Club, Brian made an immediate impact, winning the Charles Sutton Medal as the club’s Best and Fairest in his first season. He went on to build a distinguished career, representing his state on seven occasions and earning All-Australian honours.

Royal finished his playing career with 199 games and 299 goals, cruelly cut short by a ruptured Achilles tendon late in the 1993 season against the Essendon Football Club.

Following his playing days, Brian transitioned into coaching, becoming a highly respected assistant at several AFL clubs, including the Melbourne Football Club, St Kilda Football Club, Richmond Football Club and the Western Bulldogs.

In this episode, Brian talks about entering the VFL as a mature-age player, the highs and lows of his time with the Dogs, the near misses in securing a senior AFL coaching role, and provides deeper insights into a lifelong connection to football.

This week we go back in time with former Melbourne and Fremantle defender Phil Gilbert. Phil reminisces about his career, reflects on some of special moments during his time in the game.

Drafted from Claremont in the WAFL, Phil was selected by Melbourne with pick 19 in the 1991 AFL Draft and played predominantly as a defender. He spent three seasons with the Demons, playing 25 games before making the move west to Fremantle.

Phil is perhaps best remembered as the player traded by Melbourne to Fremantle in exchange for a draft pick in 1994, which was later used to recruit a 17-year-old Jeff Farmer.

He was also part of history, lining up as one of the original players in the Fremantle Dockers’ first ever AFL game against Richmond. Phil went on to spend two seasons with the Dockers, adding a further 14 games to his AFL career.

In this episode, Phil talks about his time at the Dees and playing under Neil Balme, the early days of the Fremantle Dockers, and some of his most memorable moments at the club. He also reflects on his time as part of the coaching staff at the Peel Thunder, including the famous moment when coach Garry Hocking instructed all players to start behind the ball at a center bounce.

Terry, whose father Bill Thripp played with the Collingwood Football Club in the early 1960s, became the first local Sydney player to be recruited by the Swans in 1983.

Terry spent nearly 10 seasons at the Swans, playing 78 games and kicking 43 goals, with his best season coming in 1989 when he kicked 22 majors and polled eight Brownlow votes.

In this episode, Terry talks about the early beginnings of the Swans in Sydney, the injury setbacks throughout his career, the colourful years under Geoffrey Edelsten, the era alongside Warwick Capper, and some of the toughest opponents he came across during his time in the AFL.

A Geelong product, Tony was selected by St Kilda Football Club with pick 7 in the 1994 National Draft, a draft that also featured Aussie Jones, Joel Smith and Stephen Sziller. A classy left-footed midfielder, Tony played 108 games across his career with the Saints.

He was part of St Kilda’s 1996 Ansett Cup premiership side and also featured in the club’s memorable 1997 AFL Grand Final campaign.

In this episode, Tony talks about a number of topics including the 1997 Grand Final, the star power in the Saints’ line-up, finishing his AFL career relatively young, and his off-field work within the AFL system.

This week we go back in time with Lion, Eagle, Saint, Bomber and Docker Dale Kickett. Dale reminisces about his career, reflects on some of special moments during his time in the game.

A Western Australian, Dale was recruited to the AFL for the 1990 season after Fitzroy used its first pick in the 1989 National Draft, selecting him at pick No. 9 overall. He played 15 senior games in his debut season before being traded to the West Coast Eagles at the end of the year. Dale spent just one season on the Eagles list, managing two senior games in a powerhouse side before being delisted.

St Kilda became his third AFL club, where he played 21 games. After returning to Western Australia, Essendon identified his potential and recruited him in the 1993 mid-season draft. He played eight games for the Bombers in 1994.

The introduction of the Fremantle Football Club in 1995, coached by his three-time Claremont premiership mentor Gerard Neesham, proved the perfect fit. Dale spent eight seasons at Fremantle, playing 135 games, and finished his AFL career with 263 games across five clubs.

An East Perth native, Marcus was the second overall pick in the 1991 National Draft, making the move to Victoria with Fitzroy. He spent three seasons with the Lions, playing 51 games, before being traded to Melbourne at the end of the 1994 AFL season. Marcus then enjoyed a six-year stint with the Demons, adding a further 89 games at the highest level.

Shayne, who hails from Tasmania, first began his AFL career with Fitzroy during the early 90s. Shanye played 11 games with the Lions between 1991 and 1993, not once experiencing a victory. He then headed to Hawthorn and added a further 34 games to his tally.
