    Dragnet presents “The Big Saw,” episode 242, originally broadcast on April 6, 1954. Jack Webb stars as LAPD Sgt. Joe Friday, with Ben Alexander as Officer Frank Smith, in a story written by John Robinson and directed by Webb.

    Assigned to Robbery Detail in Los Angeles after a bank holdup by two masked gunmen, Friday and Smith work from scant early evidence. A customer’s identification and a lead involving a car-rental agency set the detectives on the trail in this methodical, evidence-driven case. The surviving recording is an AFRS rebroadcast of the original NBC program.
