  • Episode 407 - The Assignment You Didn’t Apply For
    2026/09/07

What happens when life hands you an assignment you never applied for?

You didn’t plan for it. You didn’t prepare for it. And if you’re honest, you’re not entirely sure you’re ready for it.

In this episode of Tethered Thoughts with Bosede Santos, we step into Luke 1:26–35 and the unexpected encounter between Mary and Gabriel. But this isn’t simply a conversation about Mary saying yes.

It’s about capacity, calling, uncertainty, preparation and becoming.

Mary asks, “How will this be?” That question opens up a surprisingly relevant conversation about the way we respond when an opportunity, responsibility or season arrives before we feel fully equipped for it.

We explore the difference between not knowing how and not being capable, why exceptional people don't necessarily wait until they feel completely ready, and why discernment matters when we're deciding which opportunities are actually ours to carry.

Along the way, we look at what Scripture says about identity before assignment, preparation through experience, learning what the next level requires, and trusting God with the parts we simply cannot control.

This is a conversation for anyone standing at the edge of something unfamiliar — a new responsibility, a changed season, an unexpected opportunity or simply a version of life you didn't see coming.

Because perhaps becoming isn't always about pursuing the future you planned.

Sometimes it's about becoming capable of carrying the future you didn't.

    Scripture: Luke 1:26–35

    Tethered Thought: Don’t let “I don’t know how” become “I can’t.”

Tethered Declaration: A Scripture-rooted declaration to make and meditate on throughout today.

Themes: Christian success mindset, purpose and calling, confidence, personal growth, leadership, adaptability, courage, discernment, capacity, preparation and becoming.

  • Episode 406 - When You Don't Have to Sound Impressive to Be Effective
    2026/09/01

What if effectiveness has less to do with how impressive you appear and more to do with the substance you carry?

In this episode of Tethered Thoughts with Bosede Santos, 1 Corinthians 2:1–5 takes us into an unexpected conversation about competence, confidence, focus and the temptation to rely on presentation.

Paul deliberately refuses to make impressive speech the foundation of his message. His confidence isn't in performance or persuasion, but in the power of God. That raises a very contemporary question — are we spending more energy managing how capable we look than actually becoming capable?

Through the cultural context of Corinth, Scripture, an intriguing real-world example and the habits of people who operate at an exceptional level, we explore the difference between image and substance, preparation and performance, confidence and dependence.

This episode also asks where the pursuit of excellence can go wrong, and what happens when ambition becomes more about being admired than being useful.

If you've ever felt the pressure to prove yourself, sound more knowledgeable, appear more successful or convince people of your potential, this conversation is for you.

The question to carry this week:
Where am I more concerned with looking capable than becoming capable?

And your Tethered Declaration gives you something to make and meditate on throughout the day.

    Scripture: 1 Corinthians 2:1–5
Themes: Confidence, competence, focus, excellence, authenticity, leadership, Christian success mindset, purpose and personal growth.

  • Episode 405 - Don't Give Up Too Soon
    2026/08/28

We live in a world that likes quick results.

James 5:8 offers a very different lesson — strengthen your heart and be patient.

In this episode of Tethered Thoughts, we explore James' words in their original context, including his picture of the farmer waiting for the precious harvest. This isn't passive waiting or wishful thinking. It's about remaining steady while doing what is yours to do.

We look at the difference between patience and passivity, persistence and stubbornness, delay and genuine failure — and why learning to tell those apart is essential for anyone trying to build something meaningful.

Through Scripture, cross-references, real-life Christian inspiration and practical application, we explore what long-term success requires when the results aren't arriving as quickly as you hoped.

And as Tethered Thoughts prepares to move to one episode a week from September, we also reflect on something we've been practising throughout this season — knowing when to reassess, make room and adjust the way we're doing things.

So, before you throw in the towel on something worthwhile, ask yourself:

Has it failed — or has it simply not finished growing yet?

    Scripture: James 5:8
Themes: Patience, persistence, resilience, timing, decision-making, adaptability, Christian success mindset and long-term growth.
