We talk about the early days of Kwala, the brands it supported, the tours it facilitated, and how it helped feed the culture, both locally and internationally.

Andy opens up about the challenges of running an independent distro, what the skate industry looked like behind the curtain, and what brought about the company's eventual demise. It’s a raw, honest convo about passion, loss, resilience, and how our experiences in this life can shape our perspective for the better... if we choose so.

A lifelong skater and creative entrepreneur, Luke is also a skilled barber and co-founder of Uppercut Deluxe, a globally recognised men’s grooming brand inspired by classic barbering and skate culture.

With deep ties to the Aussie skate community, Luke blends authenticity, craftsmanship, and a DIY spirit in everything he does. He’s also open about the important role his faith in God plays in his life, guiding his path through business, family, and personal growth.

In this episode, Luke shares his journey of creative reinvention, the revival of a legendary skate brand, and the values that keep him grounded.

This week, I sit down with Ray Ahn, founding member and bassist of the iconic Aussie band Hard-Ons. From their early days tearing up Sydney’s underground scene to their lasting impact on alternative and skate culture, Ray shares stories from the road, reflections on identity and art, and the resilience it takes to stay true to your craft for over four decades.

We talk about the band's bold decision to bring Tim Rogers on as lead vocalist, life lessons learned along the way, and why Hard-Ons’ music has always been a perfect match for skateboarding and DIY culture. Recorded on location at their Marrickville studio, Ray told me, "This will be the last podcast I ever do." I hope not—he’s a kind, humble, and one-of-a-kind human with a deep well of wisdom to share.
