We are giving up our life in exchange for being willing to learn the life of Christ. If you are not willing to lay down your life just as Christ did then you can not live the Christian life. Our lives being laid down is the first step and essential foundation of every child of God. This is our reasonable service to God. Is it yours?

When Moses encountered God on the mountain, he made one decision that changed his life forever: he turned aside. By turning aside, he saw the burning bush and the Lord's calling that later changed the course of history for the children of Israel. This 'turning aside' was a turning of Moses' old life and into God's will. In the same way when we are dying to self it is important that we 'turn aside' from the old life in order to come into the new creation. Without turning aside, we risk losing out on what God has for us and an opportunity to experience all of God. On our previous episodes of TTT we have been talking about dying to self. Some may ask: Why do we need to die? The reason is so that Christ himself can live. Without a death there can be no new life. When we die to self we are able to come into all that God has for us including resources. A lot of times we think that knowing God is enough. "There are many roads to God" is a popular saying in religious circles, however it is not a biblical verse. In fact in Matthew 7 Jesus talks about how there is only one path to eternal life and that is the through the narrow gate. If we do not chose to go down the path of the narrow then we automatically pick the path that is broad. In other words if we do not chose to the new creation life then we are living the life of Self. The flesh life is so stubborn and rebellious that you can't beat it into submission; it must be hanged on a tree. The cross is the only way for the Adamic nature to lose its control over us. Our old nature has been sown into three types of unrighteousness: corruption, dishonor, and weakness. These characteristics are habitual and instinctive in every person's life because of the fall of sin.
