Can a dry place be beneficial? We see that after Jesus came out of the wilderness He was able to accomplish His purpose. He healed, casted out devils, and produced fishers of men. Jesus fulfilled every aspect of God's will. We also see that after the wilderness Jesus received power. Without power Jesus wouldn't have been able to complete God's plan. Jesus knew that being God's Son wasn't enough to empower Him on His journey. Every desert experience should empower us to complete a certain aspect of God's will. God may have brought you into a wilderness or dry place because He wants you to be completed. It is only after we've been through the wilderness that God can give us what we need to succeed. Jesus promised the Samaritan woman that whoever drinks from the water He gives will have eternal life and a well springing within them. This well is our inner capacity to hide the Word of God in our hearts. The desert is where we increase our capacity for God's Word. This capacity is a deep understanding of the Word. It is how the Word has changed and transformed us. When this is shared with others it creates change and a righteous influence. It points people to our Savior. Digging in the Word daily is a requirement for usefulness. When God decides to use us, He won't be limited by what He can say through you. How's your spiritual capacity? Has your inner man developed into a well?

To be a usable vessel in God's hands we must go through wilderness-type situations. These trials are dry, unpleasant, and sometimes lack relief. We see how God used Jesus's time in the wilderness to finish the making process. Likewise, our wilderness needs to complete God's process resulting in ultimate usefulness. The wilderness is used to develop our identity in Christ. "If thou art the Son of God". This is the question the enemy asks every child of God he encounters in the desert. What will be your response? Do you remember who you are as a child of God?
