  • S1E16 - Something Wicked This Way Comes
    2025/06/11
The crew finally made landfall in the northern Appalachian Territories. The town of Hope is far behind them now—and with it, any sense of stability. This week’s session picked up as the party approached the Tyler County Fairgrounds, a landmark of rusted rides and overgrowth that once held happier memories. What they found instead was a gunfight, a settlement barely holding on, and a super mutant named Chop who may be one of the best allies they’ve found yet.🔫 A Gunfight, a Misunderstanding, and a New NameNear the fairground gates, gunfire broke the calm. A scorched creature and a lone wastelander were already mid-fight as our group arrived. Sam and Jim crept through the brush. Raven climbed a rooftop and flanked the scene. After a few well-placed shots and one dramatic entrance from Raven, the scorched was down—and the settler was still standing. His name was Reuben.Reuben brought the party back to a patchwork settlement in the woods. Just a few cabins, some crops, a makeshift watchpost. But it was enough to be home—for now.The people there, including Marlene and Ted, weren’t hostile. But they weren’t exactly welcoming either. Trust takes time.🪓 “Chop is good at making smash.”While the others unpacked, Sam went looking for Ted and stumbled into something else entirely: a massive super mutant pulling apart Protectrons in the woods. His name—self-given—was Chop. What followed was one of the strangest, gentlest, and tensest social scenes in the campaign so far. Sam stayed calm. Chop asked for Nuka-Cola. And after a few rolls and a lot of heart, they came to an understanding.Chop followed Sam back to camp, dragging two dead robots behind him. Then things got complicated.A half-joking comment from Raven about “keeping” Chop went sideways fast. He backhanded her—not hard, but enough to draw a line. One hit. One point of damage. One very clear message: Chop is not a pet.To everyone's credit, the tension diffused. But the moment lingers.💤 Visions from the CultLater that night, Raven dreamed—or was pulled—again. This time, she saw Clancy Manor not as ruins, but alive with firelight and activity. Cultists marched. Pyres burned. One figure in the crowd turned toward her. Just one.She woke up with more questions than answers.🌽 What We Learned This Week* The scorched are still around* Reuben’s settlement is one of the last threads of frontier life in the north* Chop may be the most dangerous ally the party’s made* Free Radical gangs are rumored to be pushing down from the east* Raven’s visions are starting to feel more like warnings than memoriesThe crew’s presence here changes things. People are watching—some with hope, some with fear.🎙️ Studio NotesWe’ve moved the whole stream over to new software—cleaner visuals, multi-camera setups, and more tools for future guests and call-ins. • Overseer's Log: Can We Get A Studio Vault?
    2025/06/07
Don’t forget to show this video some love with a Like and a comment to beat back the algorithm beast! In this episode, I delve into the intricacies of our evolving show landscape, specifically focusing on our upcoming series, Vault Broadcast, and the transition to new recording software that will enhance our production quality. We explore my recent switch from OBS to Ecamm Live, a move influenced by our need for more streamlined guest interviews and better audio capturing capabilities. This new software allows us to create inviting overlays for our broadcasts and ensures a smoother experience for both hosts and guests. I discuss the surprising adaptability of Ecamm Live and its potential to transform our creative workflow, making it easier and more efficient. The conversation then shifts to discussing the exciting prospects of moving our operations into a dedicated studio space. My commitment to finding a suitable location stems from past challenges with housing and recording environments, as I want to nurture creativity without interrupting the lives of those around me. I describe a recent studio tour that exceeded my expectations, detailing its quiet, isolated setting, ample ethernet ports—ideal for a tech-heavy production environment—and the potential for versatile setups. This space offers more than just a physical backdrop; it symbolizes the next phase in our production journey, encouraging collaboration and community engagement.💰 Become a member on Ko-fiIn detailing our programming schedule, I outline the various projects currently in motion, from our three-hour Tales from Tomorrow TTRPG series to the behind-the-scenes C.A.S.E. Review for our paid members. My excitement builds as I share updates on planned summer campaign series and the prop unboxing segments featured on my YouTube channel. I reflect on how these multiple initiatives not only diversify content but also allow for increased interaction and feedback from our audience. The episode further introduces our strategies for audience engagement, especially the importance of timely interactions on platforms like YouTube. I emphasize how your likes and comments can dramatically influence our reach, highlighting the algorithmic nature of content discovery. Alongside mentioning our Ko-fi membership tiers, I explain how these contributions will help facilitate the transition to a dedicated studio and enhance our video and audio output. As we move through the discussion, I acknowledge that the road ahead, including scheduling interviews and output consistency, presents its own challenges but also exciting opportunities for growth. I also touch upon the integration of new tools like Voice Cast, which will allow audience members to submit audio messages—inviting them into our creative process and giving them a stake in our narrative development. In closing, I reaffirm the collaborative spirit of this project. Your support—whether through direct contributions or by spreading the word about our content—enriches this creative journey and helps build a strong community around the worlds we are crafting. With your assistance, I aim to propel our collective story forward, leading to more engaging and immersive experiences for all involved, as we embark on this thrilling chapter together.Join the Adventure:* 🎥 Watch us live every Sunday on Twitch at 7:30 PM ET* 📺 Catch up on episodes through our YouTube channel* 📺 Follow Kyle’s secondary YouTube channel for Fallout prop reviews and deep dives* 💬 Join our Discord community for behind-the-scenes content and discussions* 🎙️ Follow our TFT podcast for enhanced storytelling and exclusive commentary* 🎙️ Follow our Vault Broadcast podcast for community interviews* 💰 Support us on Ko-fi for shoutouts in episodes as well as behind-the-scenes content!* 📱 Follow us on TikTok and Instagram for more!* ☎️ Leave us a message.Use our Affiliate Codes:* 🛒 Get 20% off the Bethesda Gear Shop using our codes:BTALES31, BTALES32, and soon BTALES33* (If one doesn’t work, try increasing the number — they expire often!)* 📚 Get 10% off the Modiphius shop when buying the Fallout TTRPG using code BTALES* 🛍️ Shop Amazon with our Amazon Affiliate link.Grab your Pip-Boy and stock up on RadAway – the wasteland awaits! • S1 The journey thus far....
    2025/06/05
In this episode, we slow things down a bit—just a few of us gathered around the digital table for a catch-up session in our Fallout TTRPG campaign. Before we dive in, I talk briefly about the launch of Vault Broadcast, our new creator-focused Fallout podcast. We’ve got our very first guest lined up this week: a talented prop maker known for their insane Nuka-Cola armor builds. Couldn’t be more excited to kick this off.Back in the Wasteland, it’s Sky, DarkKnight, and Mac holding things down. Mac joins us despite feeling under the weather—trooper as always. This session gave us a chance to reflect, revisit some core story beats, and bring new or returning viewers back up to speed on where the hell we are in the world of Tales From Tomorrow. We get into some good character moments:Sky’s PC is facing down some dark realities—both in the world and within themselves.DarkKnight’s finally starting to click with the system and opens up about his character’s past (and why he’s so cagey).Mac leans into her cultist roots and how that’s affecting group dynamics. The big themes here? Survival, trust, moral gray zones—classic Fallout. We dig into the weight of player choices and how the story pivots depending on what they do. There's a great back-and-forth about whether certain actions were justified, including one violent decision that's still echoing through the community they’re trying to build.I also talk a bit about GM’ing Fallout—why improvisation matters, and how good players shape the world as much as I do. We cover lore beats, future threats, and where we might be headed next. (Let’s just say the Mothman cult isn't done with us yet.)As always, the session ends with a look ahead—more episodes coming, more ways for the audience to join in, and a bigger focus on community storytelling across all our shows. If you’ve been following Tales From Tomorrow, this is a great checkpoint episode to re-sync with the group and peek behind the curtain a bit.Check out my other videoJoin the Adventure:🎥 Watch us live every Sunday at 7:30 PM ET on Twitch (Pre-show starts at 7 PM!)📺 Catch up on episodes via the Tales From Tomorrow YouTube Channel🧰 Explore Fallout prop reviews on Overseer Kyle's Channel💬 Join the community on Discord for behind-the-scenes access and campaign chatter🎙️ Tales From Tomorrow Podcast – immersive audio storytelling + extended universe lore + Overseer’s Logs🗂️ C.A.S.E. • Summer Campaign Series - Meet & Greet 3
    2025/06/02
In this episode of our Summer Campaign Series, we talk about player character death and morality in Fallout TTRPGs. I share my perspective as a GM on how player attitudes toward character mortality have shifted, especially in high-stakes systems like Fallout and Pathfinder. We dig into how choices shape faction relationships, moral tension, and long-term consequences. Plus, a quick update on our ongoing storyline—including the battle for Watoga—and an invite to our upcoming community rewatch of the Fallout TV series to deepen our shared storytelling toolbox.Meet & Greet 3: On Death, Consequences, and Moral Weight in Fallout TTRPGsThis week’s episode is a shorter one—some of our regulars were out on vacation—but the conversation still dives deep. We focus on something I think a lot of GMs wrestle with: how do we handle player character death and moral consequences in a way that feels earned? Our returning guest Neri kicks things off with a great question about how I handle character death at the table. Especially in systems like Fallout 2d20 or high-level Pathfinder, where things can get pretty lethal, it’s something I’ve learned to talk about openly with players. Unlike fantasy games where resurrection magic can undo a death, Fallout has a different tone—death tends to be final, and that changes how players think about risk. It’s been interesting to watch how attitudes shift. Early on, some players were really protective of their characters—understandably so, after putting in time and backstory. But over time, the table's gotten more comfortable with the idea that death (or long-term injury) can actually deepen the story. Especially in our upcoming three-shot arcs, we’re embracing the idea that death is on the table—and that makes every choice feel a little more real.We also talk about how consequences don’t always have to mean death. Drawing inspiration from systems like Blades in the Dark, I’ve started introducing lasting injuries and scars that carry forward into future scenes. It’s a way to add narrative weight without always ending a character’s arc. Fallout is great for that—it’s already a world full of trauma and survival, so leaning into those gritty details just makes sense. The conversation naturally steers toward factions and politics—two things Fallout thrives on. We discuss how player decisions affect their standing with groups like raiders or the Brotherhood, and how small choices can spiral into major shifts in the campaign world. There’s a lot of tension between doing what’s right and doing what’s necessary in the Wasteland, and that’s the kind of stuff I love exploring with players. We also touch on a few current threads in the campaign—especially the ongoing mission to retake Watoga. There’s a looming sense that failure is possible, and that tension creates some of the best moments at the table. What happens if the players don’t succeed? What happens if the city falls? Fallout doesn’t shy away from those questions—and neither do we.To wrap things up, I mention something we’re doing soon: a community rewatch of the Fallout TV series. It’s not just for fun (though it will be); it’s a chance to look at how the show handles tone, pacing, and worldbuilding—and maybe steal a few tricks for our own campaigns. All in all, this was a reflective episode—less crunchy mechanics, more storytelling philosophy. If you’re a GM, writer, or just someone who loves post-apocalyptic roleplay, this one’s worth a listen.Join the Adventure:* 🎥 Watch us live every Sunday on Twitch at 7:30 PM ET* 📺 Catch up on episodes through our YouTube channel* 📺 Follow Kyle’s secondary YouTube channel for Fallout prop reviews and deep dives* 💬 Join our Discord community for behind-the-scenes content and discussions* 🎙️ Follow our TFT podcast for enhanced storytelling and exclusive commentary* 🎙️ Follow our Vault Broadcast podcast for community interviews* 💰 Support us on Patreon for shoutouts in episodes as well as behind-the-scenes content!* 📱 Follow us on TikTok and Instagram for more!Use our Affiliate Codes:* 🛒 Get 20% off the Bethesda Gear Shop using our codes:BTALES28, BTALES29, and BTALES30* (If one doesn’t work, try increasing the number — they expire often!)* 📚 Get 10% off the Modiphius shop when buying the Fallout TTRPG using code BTALES* 🛍️ Shop Amazon with our Amazon Affiliate link.Grab your Pip-Boy and stock up on RadAway – the wasteland awaits! 2025/05/21
Greetings, fellow Vault Dwellers! This week’s episode set sail on a high-stakes journey as our brave wastelanders made their final preparations in the resilient town of Hope. After some light bartering, weapons-checking, and survivalist squabbling, the crew elected to name a new captain for their beloved metal fishing boat… none other than Alfred, the ever-capable Mr. Handy! But before shoving off, there was one piece of unfinished business: the Orb Cultists. You remember them — the orb-loving mystics the team graciously stashed just down the block? Upon checking in, the team found them busy with morning prayer… but any hope for a peaceful moment evaporated when Jim, in true scientist fashion, attempted to confiscate their sacred relic for further examination. The result? Gunfire. Screaming. Mayor S.M.I.L.E.s is going to have questions about this. After leaving a very literal mark on the neighborhood, our crew paid a visit to their feral-ghoul friend Marcus the Mailman, still haunting the ruins with packages in hand. Our team shoved off, but they weren’t alone. Rusty Dusty Bones, the friendly ghoul farmer and trader, hitched a ride — with his ever-loyal brahmin Betsy in tow — as the boat glided down the murky waters of the Ohio River.Their destination: the West Virginia Lumber Mill, home of the Free Radicals. There, Sam and Jim met with “The Boss”, the grizzled leader of the Radicals. A proposal was made: Hope would gain protection… if they bent the knee. Sam, ever the diplomat, radioed back to Tom Clifton in Hope for advice. In the end, he refused the offer — but not without cost.An emotional exchange with Rusty left Sam shaken, uncertain where he stood in the growing storm of post-war power struggles. With that, the group returned to the boat — their eyes set southward, the sun bleeding orange across the sky.Where does the river lead next? What new allies — or enemies — await them further down the stream? And will Jim ever stop touching sacred objects?New Segment: C.A.S.E.
