  • Dungeons and Dragons, Junior Chef, and Summer Reading Program

    Jacob Tate is the presenter for our Union Branch’s Dungeons and Dragons Club, which takes place every first and third Saturday at the Union branch from noon to 3 PM. He is a Dungeons and Dragons enthusiast who has dedicated countless hours to learning the ins and outs of the game, its universe, and the intricacies of Dungeon Mastering.

    Cheri Kramme is a Nutrition Program Associate at the MU Extension in Franklin County. She will present a Junior Chef program at all nine branches as part of our Summer Reading Programming. She is joining us to discuss the program, her role at the MU Extension, and what the extension offers.

    Christy Schink, our Associate Director of Youth and Outreach Services Librarian, has been hard at work preparing for our Summer Reading Program, which begins May 31. This year’s theme is “Color Your World.” In this episode, we discuss the importance of the Summer Reading Program, what changes we’ve made this year, and all of the fun programs families can expect this summer.

    Sue Blesi has researched and written about Franklin County history for almost forty years. Her new book is “Hanged by the Neck Until Dead: Lynchings and Hangings in Franklin County, Missouri.” She will give an author talk about the book at our St. Clair branch on Tuesday, May 20, at 6 p.m.

    Debbie Bandy is a member of the Schwarzer Zither Ensemble. She will perform with the Ensemble at the New Haven branch on Thursday, May 22, at 6:00 PM.

    Bryan Haynes is an internationally recognized artist who operates a studio and gallery in Washington, Missouri. Currently, he is exhibiting his work in the “Missouri Masters” exhibit at the Gallery at the Library in Hermann, which runs until May 23.   • Dance Halls in Franklin and Gasconade Counties and Fashion from 1890 to 1930

    Dr. Kenneth Johnson, a career educator and retired professor in the School of Education at Lindenwood University, will be discussing the history of dance halls in Gasconade and Franklin Counties. He is the author of the 2015 book, “Moonlight Serenade to City Lights,” which is a pictorial history about the bands and musicians who played in dance halls around Missouri.
