Jason Tomanek is the City Administrator for the City of Bismarck, a position he was appointed to in February 2024. Jason began his career with the City of Bismarck in 2006 as a Community Planner. During those 10 years, Jason spent much of his time working with developers, property owners, and entrepreneurs to support the reinvestment and revitalization of Bismarck’s downtown neighborhood.

Jason is a Bismarck native and BHS graduate with degrees from NDSU in Landscape Architecture and Environmental Design, and a Masters Degree from the University of Mary. Jason is a member, and current Vice President of the Bismarck Historical Society and a producer of the History Hotdish podcast, recorded here in the studio at Dakota Media Access.

In his free time, Jason enjoys being outdoors, hiking, playing disc golf, kayaking, gardening, and searching for historic Bismarck relics and artifacts to add to his ever-growing collection of all-things Bismarck. Mr. Bismarck, as he’s known to his friends and coworkers, is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations for the City of Bismarck and serves as oversight for the planning and direction of all service functions across all 15 city departments.
