There was once a powerful man who was the leader of a big town in ancient times. He had been a strong warrior for many years and fought in many battles. Leading his fellow warriors to many victories.
One day, as he went off to fight another battle, his wife fell sick. He was very worried and wanted to stay by her side, rather than go off and fight.
But the battle was an important one and the physician's promised they would look after her and nurse her back to health. And so, off he went.
The battle was hard and many good men were lost in the fight. Others were injured gravely. It was a sad day to loose so many good friends who they had fought alongside for so many years and gone through so much together.
On their return, it was discovered that the great warriors wife had succumbed to her illness and died. They had buried her before he could return. The man was stricken with grief.
He was very close to his wife and they loved each other fiercely. She was his best advisor as well. It turned out that there was a suspicion that witchcraft has killed his wife.
This angered the warrior and he was determined to root out who caused the death of his wife. He sent warriors out to round up priests and witch doctors and question them.
He considered torturing them or even killing all of them but lucky for them, he didn't go this far. They did however find out who did this to his wife and the man was hunted down and killed.
This did little to give relief of the loss of his wife to the leader. Not long after this, his son fell ill. The leader became angry. Why was this happening to him.
Many other people in his town were falling sick and dying. It was like there was a curse on their town. The leader instructed the priests to run many ceremonies and sacrifices to order to appease the Gods and release them from their curse.
Finally, things seemed to settle down but the leader was still angry. He was a different man now. The loss had affected him deeply. He did not feel strong anymore.
He felt powerless against these dark forces that seemed to rob him of his loved ones. Before long, he fell ill himself. He thought this was another dark force attacking him but the priests assured him this was not the case.
Then one sunny day, a young, beautiful woman came to visit him. She had a presence about her. Cool and calm regardless of what was going on around her. She had come to help the once great leader.
She explained to him that he was sick because his cup was full. Full of emotional trauma from his past and from the loss of his loved ones.
She gave him the time and space to share with her everything that had happened to him over his lifetime. They spoke for hours every day as the great leader recounted his countless stories of his life's journey.
And slowly but surely, he began to feel better. He began to brighten once more. The odd smile would crease his lips every now and again. The woman was patient with him.
Helping him and guiding him to releasing all the pent up emotions stored in his once powerful body. His strength began to return. He felt much lighter and slowly, he started to feel less angry.
He was able to handle the loss in a better way. A way of understanding that his loved ones and friends where simply on the next stage of the soul journey. They had moved on to the next world, the were happy and content.
It was fine to miss them, but they were not in torment. He didn't have to worry. And as he let go of all the emotions of his past and his knowledge of the world he lived in expanded.
He understood more and his suffering melted away. He became the great leader once more. Wiser and more just than before. His town flourished and the people thrived.
They no longer went out to fight battles. Instead, the found peaceful solutions to trade and all benefit and thrive with their former enemies.
They had created a new way of being for all of his people. For others began their own journeys of letting go their past emotions and trauma and it brought much inner peace to everyone who went through the process.
They created a better world for all of them and it had started from within each of them.
