Due for release on 29 May via the LNFG label, this brand new collection of songs will feature lyrical contributions from a panoply of world-leading authors, all of whom were asked to reflect on a single significant photo to them. Amongst the collaborators this time are best-sellers, Pulitzer, Booker, Costa, Women's Prize & Saltire Award-winners, including: Irvine Welsh, Ali Smith, Len Pennie, Jehan Bseiso, Louise Welsh, Irenosen Okojie, Paul Lynch, Colum McCann, Yiyun Lee, Alan Johnson, Dan Richards and Sir Alexander McCall Smith, on recent single “Cattle Bells” hear it here: https://youtu.be/metUbK92V-4?si=IoLna9y8Q2httg0TOf the upcoming tour, SOCIETY® in celebration of the new MHS album 'In My Mind There's A Photograph and Colin Mocintyre's new novel 'An Island Burning" Songs, Stories, Readings & Q&A AN EVENING WITH… MULL HISTORICAL SOCIETY WITH SPECIAL GUESTS SEPTEMBER11 - HEBDEN BRIDGE Trades15 - BIRMINGHAM Hare & Hounds 216 - READING South Street Arts Centre17 - MANCHESTER St Michael’s18 - CAMBRIDGE Storey’s Field Centre19 - SOUTHAMPTON The Joiner’s Arms22 - BRISTOL The Wardrobe TheatreAn excited Macintyre shared: “'The ‘Society’ part of my music identity has always been the most important bit for me, so I’m very excited about bringing songs from my new album, as well as many from my back catalogue, to audiences around the UK. I’ve been flat out in creative mode but the act of creativity to me is really embodied in community and connection. For these shows I'll also be sharing stories and reading from my new Mull Mysteries novel, ‘An Island Burning’. The themes linking my two new releases reflect on war, childhood, place, identity, memory, family, survival — shining a light on hope, empathy and understanding — I hope just what we need in this fractured world. The concept of “home” in particular, and how it travels with us, always fascinates me, and I’m excited to bring my home island to society far and wide. Splash Stories summer celebrates Rebellion Festival's 30th anniversary which runs 4-9 August 2026 & is the UK's largest independent punk festival.

My co-host Diamond Dave recorded a pre -festival I/V with Altered Images' Clare Grogan who plays The Rebellion Festival run up show on 4th August and we feature Jennie Russell-Smith - the co-founder and director of the Rebellion Festival on how the hell it can be 30 years old already.

Rebellion features over 300 live acts, literary events and a marketplace in Blackpool Winter Gardens. Catch up with Diamond Dave onsite.

Splash Stories Festival Feature honours this milestone with a Splash Stories podcast every week in August featuring artists performing at the Rebellion Festival.

This will be followed with a Splash Stories podcast special on August 8th with The Buzzcocks Steve Diggle and The Godfathers Peter Coyne.

The final Splash Stories Special podcast on Rebellion Festival will feature a double header with Spear of Destiny and Theatre of Hate legend Kirk Brandon and Roman Jugg of The Damned.

On a personal note as a punk rocker in my youth, naturally Rebellion is close to my heart...my first ever live gig as a 13 yr old teenager was the Stranglers Raven Tour followed by The Damned's Machine Gun Etiquette tour ...& later played drums & toured with Chelsea, Big Life Casino, Atom Seed offshoot Chaosphere & others.

Throughout the 90's The Splash Club at The Water Rats promoted and supported The Only Ones Peter Perret, The Adverts, TV Smith, Snuff, 10 pole Tudor, Rough Trade Records parties, Glen Matlock, Paul Weller, The Stranglers & hosted Lydon as our guest on several occasions.
