このコンテンツについて
In a debate, participants are divided into "affirmative" and "negative" sides, presenting their arguments on a given topic to determine a winner. It's sometimes called "verbal martial arts" because debaters attack their opponents' evidence, logic, and conclusions while proving the validity of their own assertions.
Debate operates on an "either/or" principle, not acknowledging any middle ground. It's based on the "law of excluded middle" in classical logic. It assumes a complete "binary opposition" with no grey areas. This offers the advantage of clear points of contention and allows for fair discussions.
On the other hand, it's undeniable that this approach can be insufficient when discussing the diverse and complex realities of society. Furthermore, because it involves an exchange of "facts" and "logic," there's a possibility of emotional residue remaining between participants after a debate, increasing the risk of deepened division.
Therefore, we sought an approach different from traditional debate: a three-party discussion based on the worldview of interbeing (interdependence). From this exploration, Spiralogue was born.
