Gideon is easily one of the most human and relatable characters in the whole Bible. When God comes knocking and calls him to a dangerous and seemingly impossible task, he doesn't respond with robust faith, unwavering devotion, and flawless obedience, but he comes up with every excuse in the book not to go and asks for sign after sign after sign before finally even beginning to obey.
