Look up at the night sky. Every star, every distant world, and the very iron in your blood are remnants of an ancient cosmic story written 4.5 billion years ago. Welcome to Solar System Odyssey—a narrative voyage through our local celestial neighborhood.

The Story Our solar system did not begin in serene quiet; it emerged from violent chaos. 4.5 billion years ago, a massive interstellar cloud of gas and dust collapsed under its own gravity to form the solar nebula.

  • The Protoplanetary Disk: As the cloud collapsed, conservation of angular momentum caused it to spin faster and flatten into a rotating disk.

  • Accretion: Within this disk, microscopic dust grains collided and stuck together, building up into kilometer-sized planetesimals.

  • Planetary Embryos: Over millions of years, gravitational attraction drove these planetesimals into high-velocity collisions. Smaller bodies were shattered, while larger ones swept up remaining debris to form the planets and moons we see today.

エピソード
  • A complete overview of our Solar System.

Look up at the night sky. Every distant world, every wisp of cosmic gas, and the very iron coursing through your blood are part of a 4.5-billion-year-old story. We are star stuff contemplating the stars—conscious stardust striving to map the very cloud from which we emerged. Welcome to Fall in Cosmos, where we explore the vast architecture of our solar system.

[THE STORY] Our celestial neighborhood did not begin in serene calm, but in violent, rotating chaos.

    • The Foundation: Roughly 4.5 billion years ago, a massive cloud of interstellar dust and gas collapsed under its own gravity to form the protoplanetary disk, with our Sun igniting at the center.
    • The Inner Furnace: Near the newborn Sun, only rocky materials could withstand the heat, forging the four inner terrestrial worlds. Mercury, for example, is essentially a giant iron core wrapped in a thin crust—the likely survivor of a colossal ancient impact.
    • The Outer Giants & Planetary Chaos: Further out, beyond the freezing thresholds where volatile gases could condense, massive gas and ice giants formed. Neptune's powerful gravity rules the distant realm, locking its largest moon, Triton, in a retrograde orbit—revolving opposite to Neptune's spin. Triton is trapped in a cosmic battle of wills; Neptune's gravity is pulling it in until it will eventually be torn apart.
    • The Deep Ice & Oort Cloud: Beyond Pluto, frozen worlds scatter through the darkness. Stretching far beyond them lies the outer boundary—a massive halo of trillions of icy bodies known as the Oort Cloud, marking the true gravitational edge of our solar system.
