    Gut Feeling | Episode 1

    When Nicole went to wake up her sisters after spending the night on the family’s trampoline, her sister Megan was nowhere to be found. Megan was 14 years old and was the oldest in her family. After calling friends and neighbors, the police are called to help with the search.

    Join our host, Emily as she takes you through the details of the case with personal interviews by those close to the case.

    Interviews:

    Nicole was seven years old and had been sleeping on the trampoline until she woke up sometime that night after Megan disappeared and headed back inside.

    Misty was Darrel’s (Megan’s father) secretary and worked with Darrel the morning Megan was found missing.

    Keira was a close friend and neighbor to Megan. Outside of her family, she was one of the last people to see her the night before. Megan's Dad calls her to see if she is with her.

    Whitney was also a close friend. Megan had planned to go on a camping trip with Whitney and her family in the coming days. Megan's mom calls her to see if she has any idea where Megan might be.

    Brian Stositch was a deputy at the time and was the responding deputy to Megan’s home. He helped in the search and talked to Megan’s mom, Gina, and father, Darrel.

    Sergeant Brian Lovell was a deputy at the time and responded to the house to help search the property.

    Peggy was a close family friend and a member of the same church as Megan’s family, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Megan’s brother had spent the night at her house. When she returns him the next day, she is told that Megan is missing. She volunteered to watch Megan’s younger siblings.

    Amber was a close friend and neighbor to Megan. She was a few years older and had been a babysitter for the family. She thought of Megan as a little sister. She had just had foot surgery and was not questioned by the police.

    I Knew They Would | Episode 2

    When news of Megan’s disappearance spreads throughout the community, everyone is a bit shocked. News agencies in Salt Lake City had already reported another kidnapping that day, Elizabeth Smart. The similarities are striking, but the detectives don’t jump to any conclusions about Megan.

    Join our host, Emily as she takes you through the rest of the morning and afternoon. From personal interviews, you will see the day from the perspective of Darrel’s secretary, Misty, her friends Kiera and Whitney, and the deputies involved.

    Interviews in the order they are heard:

    Misty was Darrel’s secretary. That morning Darrel and Megan’s grandpa left to go help with the search for Megan. Misty hung back just in case Megan called the office.

    Whitney was also a close friend. Megan had planned to go on a camping trip with Whitney and her family in the coming days. She was also interviewed by the police, helping them understand Megan’s state of mind at the time.

    Keira was a close friend and neighbor to Megan. She was interviewed by police to help them investigate and work out where Megan might have gone. Megan’s grandpa picks her up. She tells police that if Megan had left on her own, she would have taken her Scooby-Doo blanket still lying on the trampoline.

    Detective Sergeant Kevin Cox sends detectives to help with the investigation and starts heading over to Megan’s home.

    Sergeant Brian Lovell talks about the normal checklist police go through for missing persons. He also mentions the disappearance of Amber Hoopes.

    Brian Stositch was the responding deputy to Megan’s home. He talks to the family to find out who they have contacted to look for Megan. He is told by Darrel that the family dog had been barking a lot in the early morning hours.

    Detectives and deputies hide in wait for Hescock. When arriving home in his tool truck, he spots the police and leads them on a long chase into the mountains. The chase comes to a stop on a dead-end road.

    Join our host, Emily as she takes you through the details of the chase from the perspective of the deputies involved.

    Interviews in the order they are heard:

    Detective Sergeant Kevin Cox hears who the kidnapper is and contacts his work. He activates the SWAT team.

    Chris Reed was a backcountry deputy at the time but had just transferred from being a detective. He waits with Kevin Cox and calls out the pursuit to dispatch.

    Sergeant Brian Lovell, a deputy at the time, joins the chase hoping to deploy spike strips to stop the pursuit.

    Sergeant Todd Raymond helped to activate SWAT and ultimately joined the pursuit because he also had spike strips that might help end the pursuit.

    Brian Stositch was the responding deputy to Megan’s home. When he is back at the office writing the report from that day, he hears the pursuit start and leads to join the chase.

    In this episode, we look at the fallout of the kidnapping, highspeed chase, the devastating loss of K9 Rik, and the injury sustained by Sergeant Todd Raymond. We also explore the many small details that came together to make a miracle.

    Megan recounts when she found out that Hescock had killed himself and that it was all over.

    Sergeant Todd Raymond sustained a bullet wound in the shootout with Hescock. He recounts being taken to the hospital and details his injuries.

    Sergeant Brian Lovell, a deputy at the time, explains what happened after leaving the scene on the night of the shooting and the next day's events.

    Nicole is Megan’s younger sister. She was seven at the time and recounts how she found out that Megan had been kidnapped.

    Keira gives her perspective on how Megan did after she escaped. She went to Megan’s house and visited with her the night she returned home.
