What happens when grace not only sets us free from sin but also gives us a whole new identity? In Romans 7:1–6, Paul explains that through Jesus’ death, we have been set free from the law, not so we can live for ourselves, but so that we might belong to Christ. This Sunday evening, Robin Vonk will help us unpack what it means to be released from the old and brought into the joy of new life in Him.

Paul uses the picture of marriage to show how, by dying with Christ, we’ve been released from our old “marriage” to the law and its condemning power. Now, we’re joined to Jesus—the risen Lord—so that we might bear fruit for God. This isn’t about rule-keeping or religious performance; it’s about relationship, renewal, and transformation.

The gospel tells us that Jesus took the curse of the law upon Himself at the cross, paying the price we could never pay. And by His resurrection, He brings us into a new relationship of love and grace. We are no longer bound to the old way of living—we now live by the Spirit, bearing fruit for God in joyful service.
