  • Yoga Nidra Guided Meditation with Erin Polley
    2024/08/20

Yoga Nidra, often referred to as "yogic sleep," is a guided meditation practice that induces deep physical, mental, and emotional relaxation. I absolutely love this practice because it is accessible to all levels of practitioners, from beginners to advanced, and can be adapted for various needs, including physical or emotional healing. This practice can be done at any time but preferably during the day when you have a 20 minute window to be still and uninterrupted. Unlike traditional meditation, where the practitioner is often seated, Yoga Nidra is practiced lying down on your back in what we call a “Nidra Nest”. Find a place in your home, preferably not your bed where you want to be in a practice of deep sleep, but rather a place you can place a mat and support your body with blankets and pillows. I like to have a pillow or bolster underneath my knees to support my low back. I sometimes also roll up a blanket to place at the back of my neck rather than using a pillow. I cover myself with a blanket and use an eye pillow to block out the light. If you are ready for this practice, get all the soft and cozy things you can find in your home to place around your body and on top of it so you feel supported to rest.

    Enjoy.
