    2026/02/04

Buying a General Practice can be one of the most exciting and dangerous moves in your career as a Clinic Owner.

In this episode, Dr Sachin Patel and Dr Todd Cameron break down the realities of purchasing a clinic: the opportunities, the traps, and the types of businesses you’ll come across.

Todd reveals the five key “practice avatars” you’ll encounter — from post-peak clinics to cultural-chaos turnarounds — and explains how to assess which ones are worth saving and which to walk away from. Together, they unpack what due diligence really looks like, how to avoid overpaying for a dud, and why having the right advisors can literally save you a decade of pain.

If you’ve ever thought, “Maybe I should buy a practice,” this episode will make you smarter, safer, and more strategic in that decision.

In this episode of the Scale My Clinic Podcast, you’ll learn:

    1. 00:30 – Why ownership looks so attractive and the mindset shift every future owner needs before diving in

    2026/01/28

If you’re a GP or Practice Owner who’s ambitious (and a bit overwhelmed), this episode is a blueprint for scaling without burning out.

Dr Todd sits down with clinic co-owner Kylie Yates and Practice Manager Scott Weaire to unpack how they rebuilt culture from the ground up, aligned every decision to values, and turned “busy” into sustainable growth.

You’ll hear how they embedded simple rituals that lifted morale and accountability, used a banking-grade finance lens to transform a loss-making nursing department into a profit centre, and operationalised a visionary–integrator rhythm so ideas turn into outcomes.

We also dig into their next strategic bets — Veterans Health and practical AI — plus the candid advice they wish every owner heard sooner.

Expect real talk, numbers, and repeatable plays you can action this week.

    ABOUT SCOTT WEAIRE

    Scott Weaire

    Practice Manager

Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks? After 25 years in banking, Scott decided it was time for a career change – one that involved more people and less paperwork. He joined The Surgery at Jerra in early 2023 after completing his Certificate III in Health Services, eager to gain hands-on experience in patient care. Originally planning to start a Bachelor of Nursing in 2024, Scott quickly realised he loved TSAJ too much to leave. He was promoted to Reception Manager in mid-2024 before stepping up the ladder in 2025.

A father of five, Scott is no stranger to multitasking, organisation, and a little bit of chaos—all skills that serve him well in keeping the practice running smoothly. When he’s not supporting the TSAJ team, he’s busy being a dedicated groupie, cheering on his partner as he rocks out on the drums in a pipe band.

Scott also loves gardening and discovering new coffee spots, so much so that he and his partner are setting up their own coffee van to run on weekends. Because if you can’t find the perfect brew, why not serve it yourself?

    2026/01/21

If you’re a GP or Practice Owner who’s ambitious but exhausted, this episode is just what you need.

Dr Lucy Randall shares how she went from UK GP partner to co-owning three Australian clinics without sacrificing her family, her sanity, or her standards. You’ll hear the practical moves that matter: buying existing sites (not shiny fit-outs), standing up a minimum viable clinic quickly, and reinvesting profits with discipline.

We unpack the real levers for scaling plus Lucy’s refreshingly honest recruitment playbook that actually works in a tight market. We also go deep on leading through Medicare and policy changes with transparency and collaboration so your doctors feel supported (and stay).

Finally, Lucy talks candidly about building with a life partner, creating boundaries that protect home life, and ditching the guilt by outsourcing low-value tasks so you can be present with your kids and present for your team.

If you want a bigger clinic and a better life, this is your next right step.

In this episode of the Scale My Clinic Podcast, you’ll learn:

    1. 04:14 - Launch fast, refine later
    2. 10:35 - Lead across multiple sites without burning out
