Utah lawmakers are pushing a bold new bill that would let citizens sue federal immigration agents like ICE in civil court — a move designed to crack down on misconduct and hold agents accountable for violating constitutional rights. Inspired by the case of Danilo Beltran, a man detained without cause and left sick in custody, the legislation seeks to strip federal officers of immunity when they operate within state borders. Senate Minority Leader Luz Escamilla argues this is essential to ensure federal agents follow proper procedures and respect basic rights — because without legal consequences, there’s no incentive to behave properly. While critics warn proving violations will remain difficult, supporters believe this is the only way to create real accountability for agents who currently have no legal recourse when their actions go wrong — especially for immigrants with clean records trying to build lives in Utah.

Utah’s starting QB Devon Dampier is secretly the biggest fan of his backup, Byrd Ficklin—pushing hard for him to get more reps this season. Ficklin, a dual-threat weapon who shined as a starter last year, is now being used in wild ways: running routes, lining up in the backfield, even taking snaps. The coaching staff’s bold move? Letting Ficklin thrive from day one—not just when injured. Dampier calls him “little brother” and sees him as someone he’s preparing to surpass, while Ficklin’s already earned leadership council status in just his second year. Highlights are flying too—a viral cross-body pass racked up over a million views. With smart workload management, Ficklin’s becoming Utah’s most unpredictable weapon, turning every play into a potential highlight reel.
