  • Chrilz - Artist Interview | SalonExit #17
    2023/05/25

In my latest interview, I had the opportunity to sit down with Chrilz, an exciting emerging artist whose work has been gaining attention in the art world. During our conversation, we explored his artistic practice, delving into his creative process, influences, and aspirations. One of the things that struck me about Chrilz's practice was his commitment to the process besides the triumphant beautifully finished pieces. He also emphasized the importance of allowing himself to trust his practice, skills, and overall direction of his artistic journey thereby recognizing that it's through this commitment that he often makes some of his most interesting discoveries. Chrilz also spoke at length about his influences, which range from pop music to early expressionists. He talked about how he draws inspiration from a variety of sources, both within and outside of the art world, and how he tries to incorporate these influences in a way that feels authentic to his own voice.

  • Philipp Humm: Artistic Journey, The first Painting, ''The Last Faust'' | Salonexit #16
    2023/01/29

Philipp Humm’s work draws from his rich and varied life experiences and is deeply reflective and often political. He enjoys exploring the idiosyncrasies and contradictions of contemporary life. Humm is a multi-disciplinary artist working in sculpture, film, photography and painting. Humm’s mind has been described by many as that of two, the intellectual and the creative, both working in harmony.

I am deeply intrigued by Philipp's artistic methodology and the extensive  journey he is undertaking. My favourite part of this conversation was Philipp's statement in response to my question of whether his ideas appear in his creative mind all at once or gradually. He replied, 'In principle, you see the idea you want, but you might still end up somewhere different.' To me, it's an amazing way of defining art.

  • ''Untitled'' By BAGMAN9000 | SalonExit #13
    2022/12/04

BAGMAN9000 is a London-based multidisciplinary artists. Although only 18, Bagman spent his whole life pursuing art. His artistic upbringing and bustling London's street-art environment in which Bagman is developing artistically as well as psychologically, make for one of a kind practice torn by his desires to self improve, be original and give back artistically to society as a whole.

One of BAGMAN9000'S latest works discussed in this episode the, for now, Untitled, is a painting of the reoccurring in his practice 'face'. Strikingly dressed in a powerful red border, it encapsulates the ever-rushing idea of visual fragmentation 9000 is currently fascinated with. Inspiration-wise, it is bringing together 9000's most recent and dear artistic influences including music, fashion, social activism and a manifold of artistic techniques he utilised in his artistic pursues. This work also builds upon 9000's vision of building a body of work unexpectedly morphing with time into an unknowable and unachievable creation from the future.

  • ''Man Profile in Grey Trousers'' By Stuart McHarrie | SalonExit #12
    2022/11/09

In this episode of SalonExit we're talking with Stuart McHarrie, a London-based contemporary painter known for his straightforward, iconically original work.

In this conversation we discussed Stuart’s medium of choice, his favourite artists, and artistic eras. We touched upon some interesting sociological visuals quirks steering his practice, in particular one of his main themes. Last but not least, we talked about Stuart’s work as a Creative Director & Co-founder of the London-based creative agency smartsoho.co.uk

The main painting of this conversation: the ‘Man Profile in Grey Trousers’ comprises of a closed composition featuring a profile of a man wearing monochromatically coloured grey trousers. As discussed, the ‘Man Profile in Grey Trousers’ due to its relatively large size appears to be of a stronger render. In terms of the process behind it, It serves as a great highlight of the techniques Stuart uses in his practice. One of which being a usage of masking tape which although Stuart described as mechanical, I also find to be strongly organic and rewardingly fluid.

There is a lot more left to be discovered on Stuarts’ website. Therefore, I highly encourage you to visit this creative space: https://stuartmcharrie.wordpress.com/
