Today, on Day 352 of Saints in a Year, we celebrate the Feast of Saint Luke the Evangelist, traditionally remembered as a physician, companion of Saint Paul, and author of the Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles.

Luke's writings preserve some of the most beloved passages in the New Testament, including the Annunciation, the Visitation, the birth of Jesus, the Good Samaritan, and the Prodigal Son.

His Gospel emphasizes the mercy of Christ and His love for sinners, the poor, and the forgotten.

The Acts of the Apostles continues the story, recounting Pentecost, the missionary journeys of the early Church, and the spread of Christianity throughout the Roman world.

Luke is also remembered for his loyalty to Saint Paul and is traditionally honored as the patron saint of physicians and artists.

His story reminds us that God can use our gifts, talents, and friendships to bring others closer to Jesus.

Prayer

Today, on Day 351 of Saints in a Year, we honor Saint Ignatius of Antioch, an early Christian bishop, Apostolic Father, and martyr.

Living near the beginning of the second century, Ignatius served as bishop of Antioch, one of Christianity's oldest and most important communities.

After his arrest, he was transported to Rome under Roman guard.

During that journey, he wrote seven remarkable letters that survive to this day.

These letters offer extraordinary insight into the beliefs and practices of the early Church, including devotion to the Eucharist, unity around the bishop, and the use of the expression "Catholic Church."

Ignatius was traditionally martyred in Rome by wild beasts around AD 107.

His story reminds us that the Catholic faith has deep roots in the earliest generations of Christianity and that faithfulness to Christ requires courage.

Saint Ignatius reminds us that faithfulness to Jesus sometimes requires extraordinary courage.

Saint Ignatius of Antioch, help us remain faithful to Jesus Christ, deepen our love for the Holy Eucharist, and strengthen our unity with the Church. Pray for Christians facing persecution and teach us to trust in God through every difficulty.

Today, on Day 350 of Saints in a Year, we honor Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque, the French Visitation nun whose reported mystical experiences helped spread devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Born in 1647, Margaret Mary endured illness, family difficulties, and opposition before entering the Visitation convent at Paray-le-Monial.

Between 1673 and 1675, she reported visions of Jesus revealing His Sacred Heart, burning with love for humanity.

Through her spiritual director, Saint Claude de la Colombière, she found encouragement in spreading this devotion.

Her experiences became closely associated with the Nine First Fridays, the Holy Hour, and the Feast of the Sacred Heart.

Margaret Mary died on October 17, 1690, and was canonized by Pope Benedict XV in 1920.

Her story reminds us that Christ's love is greater than our sins and that His mercy calls us to deeper conversion.
