The challenges faced by Saint Athanasius resonate deeply with our own era. Today, we witness a passionate yet growing adherence to faith, alongside a pervasive aversion to definitive doctrine, reminiscent of the various forms of Arianism. In their quest for understanding, they crafted numerous creeds to reconcile their beliefs against the singular faith established at Nicaea, which the entire Church embraced. While they often strayed from the truth, Saint Athanasius emerges as a voice that champions unwavering faith. His insights can help bridge the gaps that divide us and draw many closer to the fullness of truth. As E. B. Pusey noted, Saint Athanasius looked through words into meanings, emphasizing the importance of understanding the essence of doctrine over mere linguistic interpretations, a notion echoed by Card. Newman years ago.Copyright Religious Texts and Commentary キリスト教 スピリチュアリティ 世界 聖職・福音主義
