  • Building A Culture That Wins Together
    2026/09/28

Hey! I'd love to hear your thoughts, send me a voice note.

A strong team culture is not created by slogans, uniforms, or talent alone. It is built through the standards people uphold, the habits they repeat, and the way they treat one another every day.

In this episode of the SMARTER Team Training Podcast, Coach Taylor explains what it means to put “WE before me.” Athletes will explore how identity, standards, accountability, leadership, and daily habits shape the way a team prepares, competes, responds to adversity, and wins together.

Players will be challenged to remain disciplined, accept accountability, lead through their actions, support their teammates, and consistently do their part. Coaches will learn how to model expectations, reinforce the right behaviors, correct privately, praise publicly, and create an environment where team standards matter. Parents will discover how trusting the process, supporting team expectations, and allowing coaches to coach can strengthen unity and long-term development.

The episode also provides reflection questions, team discussions, athlete challenges, and practical practice and game-day checklists designed to turn culture from an idea into observable behavior.

Every choice either strengthens or weakens the team. Be disciplined. Be accountable. Be a leader. Do your part. Put WE before me.

  • Known Before Coached
    2026/09/26

Hey! I'd love to hear your thoughts, send me a voice note.

Every athlete deserves more than a name on the roster and a stream of corrections. In this coach’s-clinic episode, Coach Taylor turns relationship-building into a practical system that can work across a full team. The episode introduces the four-part STT check-in: person, role, development, and support. Coaches learn how to map contact, use short practice windows, ask better questions, summarize what they hear, clarify roles, include injured athletes and non-starters, and close promised follow-ups. Players receive a simple way to prepare for development conversations. Parents learn how to support athlete advocacy without replacing the athlete’s voice. The episode also protects important boundaries: coaches are not therapists, check-ins do not guarantee playing time or performance, and serious concerns require appropriate safeguarding and qualified support. The central standard is simple: know the person enough to coach the player, and coach the player without losing the person.

  • Turning Preparation Into Complete Game Performance
    2026/09/24

Hey! I'd love to hear your thoughts, send me a voice note.

Complete performance is not built from one skill. It happens when athleticism, stick skills, game IQ, tactics, communication, teamwork, and mindset come together at the right moment.

In this episode of the SMARTER Team Training Podcast, Coach Taylor explains how athletes can connect everything they have learned and trained to perform confidently when the game speeds up. Using a fast-break opportunity as a practical example, the episode follows the complete sequence—from recognizing the play and sprinting with purpose to communicating, filling lanes, handling the ball cleanly, making the right decision, executing, supporting teammates, and resetting for what comes next.

Athletes will learn to focus on controllable actions, win the small moments, adapt under pressure, and reflect honestly on their effort, decisions, communication, and team support. Coaches will learn how to trust preparation, simplify their messages, adjust calmly, reinforce successful execution, and maintain accountability. Parents will discover how positive encouragement, respect for the coaching process, and an emphasis on effort and growth can support confident performance.

Know your role. Own your role. Elevate your team. One team, one goal—do your job and win together.

Food is more than something athletes eat—it is the fuel that supports training, performance, recovery, growth, and overall health.

In this episode of the SMARTER Team Training Podcast, Coach Taylor breaks down the foundations of sports nutrition and shows athletes, coaches, and parents how simple daily choices can produce meaningful results. Learn how sleep, hydration, balanced nutrition, training, and mental preparation work together to build sustainable performance.

The episode introduces a practical performance plate built around fruits and vegetables, lean protein, quality carbohydrates, healthy fats, and hydration. It also follows an athlete’s day from breakfast and school through the pre-practice snack, training, recovery nutrition, dinner, and sleep.

Athletes will learn to eat regularly, stay hydrated, and begin recovery promptly. Coaches will discover how to reinforce healthy habits without making nutrition complicated, while parents will learn how preparation, availability, and positive support can make consistent fueling easier.

  • The Fit Before the Commit
    2026/09/20

Hey! I'd love to hear your thoughts, send me a voice note.

A college offer can feel like the finish line, but the real work is deciding whether the opportunity fits the whole student-athlete. Coach Taylor presents a practical family framework for evaluating academic life, coaching relationships, roster context, development, health support, belonging, finances, and everyday campus reality. Listeners learn how to define nonnegotiables, ask comparable questions on every visit, verify eligibility and aid through official sources, and use a decision matrix without pretending any formula can guarantee success. The episode keeps the athlete's voice at the center while showing parents, coaches, counselors, and compliance professionals where they add value. It also explains why recruiting attention is information—not identity—and why promises must be separated from observable systems. The goal is not certainty. It is a clear, values-based decision that remains strong beyond the sport.

    2026/09/18

Hey! I'd love to hear your thoughts, send me a voice note.

Leadership is not determined by age, position, playing time, or whether someone wears a captain’s title. It is earned through consistent actions, personal responsibility, and a willingness to make the people around you better.

In this episode of the SMARTER Team Training Podcast, Coach Taylor explains what leadership looks like in practices, games, training sessions, classrooms, and everyday team environments. Athletes will learn how to lead themselves first, model the team’s standards, communicate with purpose, respond to adversity, empower their teammates, and hold others accountable without tearing them down.

Coaches will discover how to create meaningful leadership opportunities, establish clear expectations, and develop athletes who can confidently guide their teammates. Parents will learn how to support this growth by encouraging responsibility, resilience, communication, and team-first behavior.

Leadership is not something athletes simply talk about—it is something they demonstrate through preparation, effort, attitude, body language, and the choices they make when nobody is watching. Be the standard. Empower others. Hold accountable. Lead yourself, lead others, and earn the right to be followed.

What separates athletes who shrink under pressure from those who step forward with confidence?

In this episode of the SMARTER Team Training Podcast, Coach Taylor explains why confidence isn’t something athletes are simply born with—it’s a skill built through preparation, repetition, small wins, and consistent action.

Athletes will learn how productive self-talk, confident body language, controlled breathing, and a focus on the next play can strengthen their performance. Coaches will discover practical ways to create environments where athletes can take initiative, make mistakes, reset, reflect, and grow. Parents will learn how celebrating preparation, courage, and progress—not only results—can reinforce confidence away from competition.

The episode also introduces a simple four-step reset routine: pause, breathe, reframe, and focus. Most importantly, it shows how confidence becomes visible through coachability, leadership, encouragement, dependable effort, and attention to the small details.

Confidence isn’t loud. It shows up in your actions. Believe it. Build it. Live it. Lead it—and help your team become stronger together.
